Silence is a world I do not know.

What is Silence?

by poetwatch

I hear, but no one is talking.
I search, but I cannot see
No lips to read
Everyone wears a mask.

What's on their mind?

Still, shots sound off in the air
Like the Fourth of July,
Bees are buzzing, crickets are chirping away,
Attacking my mind with their din.

Noise, with no sting.

I swat mosquitoes in the air
And see them sail to the ground.
Yet, there is nothing there,
Figments of my imagination.

How I wish for silence.

I'm not alone in this world
There are many like me
Fighting for silence.
Yet, it cannot be.
