In 2020 we weathered a pandemic
A collapse of the economy
Political chaos

In 2021 so far we have seen
Attempted insurrection
Presidential impeachment
Spreading pandemic
Economy cratering

Yet there is a sense
In the air
That a change
Is coming to the land

To heal the divisions
And hatred
Spread like a malignant disease
By the dark dangerous forces
That President Trump unleashed

Against all odds
The nation turned
To a decent man
Who promised to bring us back
To the promised land

Who promised to heal the wounds
Bring us back to prosperity
And heal the nation's wounds

But first we must defeat the virus
Restart the economy
Bring hope back
To those who have lost hope

And in so doing
Follow the better angels
Of our nature

And move the country
Forward
To a brighter world

Yes a change is coming
To this land
That I love

Perhaps we will overcome
And move forward

But the forces of darkness
Hatred and fear
Are still there

Waiting for the spark
To set off the flame
And destroy us all

So I plead
To all the gods above
Jesus, Allah, Buddha and Ganesh

Please heal the land
Please end this suffering
And bring peace and goodwill
To America once again
