A poem about my childhood on the farm

Childhood on the farm

by Chrissy710

Childhood on the farm

For you a story I will tell
about a farm I loved so well,
and with my younger brother Jim
I'd run and play all day with him.

We'd roam the paddocks and the hills
pick mushrooms, and the daffodils,
but always by our side would be
our collie dog, a pedigree.

Some-times, real quiet we would stay
just to watch the rabbits play,
then to the creek, perhaps we'd go
eat sticky gum the wattles grow.

Each night before we went to bed
we'd listen, while to us dad read,
about the chimney sweep called Tom
or, of a duck who was a swan.

My childhood memories are strong
still, in my mind where they belong,
those carefree days just me and him
I'll not forget; my brother Jim.
