Senryu is a Japanese short poetic form similar to haiku but focuses on people and it doesn't require a season word (kigo). Syllable count is 5/7/5 OR LESS. It portrays the characteristics of human beings. A common misconception about senryu is that it is exclusively a satirical and or humorous poetic genre. There's another side of senryu, a more serious side that expresses the misfortunes, the hardships, and woe of humanity. It goes back to late 18th century Japan.
