Not many things in life equal Kiwi-Aussie rivalries

Sweet Revenge in Nindigully

by Reese Turner

Business in Australia had me outback isolated one night near Nindigully. Not much happening there, but there was a pub...

Lucky me, championship rugby match on TV that night. I'd gone early for a seat. No seat. Stood among delirious Aussies, cheering their Wallabies. However, one young woman would run through the crowd, waving, joyfully yelling whenever New Zealand scored against the Australians. And, that was often!

I asked her, "How do you get away with this?"

"I'm from New Zealand and I waitress here. I put up with these mates' crap nightly. It's my night off, it's my turn!"

True Story Flash contest entry

Among all the things in life for which I am thankful, those years I would travel to Australia and New Zealand on business were just amazing! Those folks are so much fun! I could not choose a favorite between them - they are all welcoming and happy.
