A villanelle.

Kingdoms cannot stand...

by royowen

A kingdom cannot stand my friend,
If dukes of night will rule the day,
disaster's surely round the bend.

If power's corruption you will tend,
and if temptation's rule holds sway.
A kingdom cannot stand my friend,

If wisdom's spoken, pigs may rend,
rebellious fools may not obey,
disaster's surely round the bend.

Confusion's power can be the trend,
without the law confusion plays.
A kingdom cannot stand my friend.

One cannot know if paths can blend.
Disharmony brings war to prey.
Disaster's surely round the bend.

What can I do when trials distend,
can prayer be used to light the way?
A kingdom cannot stand my friend,
disaster's surely round the bend.

A villanelle is a nineteen line poem consisting a a specific rhyme scheme. A1bA2 abA1 abA2 abA1 abA2 abA1A2.
The first and third line of the first stanza are repeated in alternating order throughout the poem. And appear together in the last couplet

This poem is about what division causes whether it be a school council, a local town council, right up to national governments to the humble local church. Even Satan's kingdom divided will fall, Nobody wins a gang war both will lose. Political parties know they will self destruct with internal struggles.
Mark 3:24-25 "If a kingdom is divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand.
If a house is divided against itself. It cannot stand."
