Poetry Contest
Write a Limerick. A Limerick is a rhymed humorous, nonsense or bawdy poem of five lines which originated in Limerick, Ireland.
The Limerick has a set rhyme scheme of : a-a-b-b-a with a syllable structure of: 9-9-6-6-9.
As an example I chose a wonderful Limerick by judyverse called "A Day at the Beach:" Judy has graciously given her consent to use her poem to illustrate the form.
The McCoys sought a day at the beach
to be safe from the virus's reach.
When the shark numbers grew
and Isaias winds blew
they departed the beach with a screech.
The contest winner will win half of the prize pool of 90.00 member dollars. In this contest at least 2 submissions must be made for the vote to begin.
