My Favorite Pet
Poetry Contest
Write a RHYMED poem about your favorite pet.
Minimum three stanzas.
This is the one I wrote about my sweet and adorable wonder cat Lucky whom I adopted from a Las Vegas kill shelter in 2007. He brought much joy into my life.
Lucky
You sit right here, by my computer screen,
An inspiration always, for this soul.
Your fur is silky and your eyes are green,
of clearest emerald, they capture all.
Your nose is cold and moist, your heart is warm,
Your loyalty and servitude are mine.
We shared misfortunes and we weathered storms,
Our futures are forever intertwined.
And when you see my grief, you start to purr,
The little engine takes it all away.
I know that when my vision starts to blur,
you'll be my eyes, your love will guide my way.
The contest winner will win half of the prize pool which is based on the number of entries. The second and third place winners will each share the remaining prize pool. The prize pool is currently 70.00 member dollars. There are 4 spots still open. If all open spots are used the prize pool will be 90.00 member dollars. In this contest at least 5 submissions must be made for the vote to begin.
