Demetria Blouin: It was said that time is a construct of man and did not exist before man did. My brain cannot resolve this thought. My question, when it was only dinosaurs roaming the earth, no man in existence, did they not be born, get mature, and die? Does that not show time? I'm trying to make it make sense, and failing miserably! 🤔 |

Birth, death, sunrise, sunset - this is how we 'observe' time, or - as you say - how time shows itself. The better question to ask is: What is time? We can't say 'the passing of the hours' as that is a circular argument (What is time? The passing of the hours. What is an hour? The passing of time.) Perhaps time is 'change', caused as the universe expands. I think the point you start with (the 'construct') refers to some of the artificial measures we have (like there being 7 days in a 'week', or 31 days in some months, 30 in others, that a 'day' starts at a point we call midnight, as opposed to the point we call dawn, etc.), these are our constructions. I would like to think that a lunar month is observed by many organic things, not just as an instinct - the passing of the seasons certainly is, but I doubt if the dinosaurs had the concept of "Tuesday" being different to "Wednesday." What do you think time "is"? That's maybe the better question to apply yourself to, I think. So: what do you think time is? (I must go, my pterodactyl has a 10 o'clock at the nail bar) cheers phill - | ||
Psalm 90:40; and the span of our life is 70 years, 80 if especially strong, verse 10. The Bible reveals the age of many faithful servants in years, and it tells us how long Noah and his family were confined in the ark before the water subsided. God is a time keeper and Solomon endorsed this thought in the book of Ecclesiastes ch 3 where he recorded that there is a time for everything under the sun.
