The Puppy and the Fawn

by Sandra Stoner-Mitchell

The playful puppy saw a little fawn,
just skipping in the garden on the lawn.
He slowly wandered over to say, hi,
this special moment couldn't pass him by.

The puppy showed him it was not pretend,
he really wished to be the fawn's new friend;
it didn't matter that they weren't the same,
the only difference really was their name.

The little fawn was pleased to have a chum,
together they would play and have some fun.
Their differences, they knew they'd overcome,
a true and lasting friendship had begun

The world today is full of crazy men,
so full of hate of things beyond their ken.
If they could look at others through new eyes,
and try to understand and kill the lies,

just like the puppy and the little fawn,
some true and lasting friendships could be born.
