A Revised Nursery Rhyme

Dilly's Lamb

Dilly has a little lamb,
its fleece is white as snow
Anywhere that Dilly went,
it’s not allowed to go.
 
It got away and followed where
our Dilly went to lunch.
The lamb was puzzled why he’d not
been asked to have some brunch.
 
Poor Dilly was embarrassed so,
it really made her blush.
She tried to hide the lamb away
before the lunchtime rush.
 
Her friends began to gather,
and to make the matter worse,
her friends began to laugh and sneer,
reactions quite averse.
 
The last straw for our Dilly was
she thought her friends were mean.
She led her little lamb away -
they ne’er again were seen.
