I enjoyed reading your contest entry and if I were the captain I would be disappointed too. Good luck with the contest.
So, the next morning, after a hefty breakfast, we piled into the car and set out for the mountains far beyond. (following morning)

Wow, that would be amazing and a little scary. We have problems with bears here, getting into the trash and garden sheds. They have attacked home owners who don't know they are there until it's too late. They are small black bears, but still big enough and dangerous. My sis went to Alaska last year. It's a beautiful place. You have more adventures than anyone I know. A fun life. =] Well written, hope you do well in the contest. I did see on spelling error in the 6th para from the bottom. nothimg-nothing.

This true story, A Good Day to Fish, has one of those great moments you can only explain, but may never be able to fully relate as to how it felt. Your approach to the viewing is well told, inching us from the airport and the sleep-shattering traveling, to the glacier setting the river feeding area. Neat.

What a fun read. And coupled with the picture it lets all of us get a glimpse of exactly what we are missing out on by not being there with you. Thanks for sharing. I wish I had a six.
We looked around and saw nothimg but wilderness.

One of lives special moments. What a wondrous sight that had to be, I can understand why your Captain was disappointed he had dozed. What a good leader he was to have stayed awake to carry the burden of your safety and enjoyment. Good story, Ulla. Good luck in the True Story Contest. Nancy xxx

It sounds like you got more of a sight than you bargained for. I imagine seeing that eight-foot beast was quite scary, beautiful too. Of course, you probably didn't admire the beauty until you were out of harm's way, lol. Your post is well-written, very interesting. Good luck with your contest.

A great detailed encounter with a Grizzly. I like how you set this up with no hint of what is coming. We land in Alaska, anticipate a trip to Tokyo and then Moscow. A side excursion to Denali. the sky is blue, the snow gleaming white. It is an idyllic scene. And then in the last few lines the bear appears much as it would in real life; around the bend. A real wake up call for sure. estory

That big brown bear had one thing on its mind. Fish. And that he is a fisherman beyond its calling. So glad you enjoyed our wild Amreica.
Thanks for sharing. Out of six.
