You're a master of the complicated scheme. This entry not only shows the art form, but is also a quite apt commentary on the major issue - social and political - of the day. Great entry and a joy to read... ...ec

Sounds like something my grandma would say: "Kill the bug with a pint or two." She was sure that Irish Whisky was the elixir of the Gods ad the cure all for just about anything from cramps to toothaches!!! Good job on this Retourne - you have done a great job executing the form - I think I'll drink to that! (LOL)

A very well-written Retourne about the virus who has everyone run and hide behind masks not to contract the virus. To boost the immune system us the best thing we can do for ourselves.

Your satirical poem is skillfully and creatively composed, timely, and a bit
darkly humorous, as satire usually is. Though I agree that a sozzled person is likely to be less concerned about--well, anything!--I will wear a mask in public and keep my distance. :-)

Janice, I am right in lockstep with the mask, being a risk does provide certain challenges.

I'm with you... Jack on the rocks please! (Just kidding-I'm such a lightweight, I'd probably fall over) I enjoyed this poem so much! I like the line: "Let's roll back time to better days when kids ate dirt, could handle germs." That made me smile. It brought me back to my own childhood, and better days. Your poem is so true! What would happen if you had to sneeze or cough and you had a mask on? People would still look at you like you were giving them the black plague. Your poem covers all the bases of this hell that we are in. God bless you my friend. Thanks for this one! -January L. :)

You're right! If it's going to get you, it's gonna get you. We can't live in a bubble worried about it all the time! Drink up and enjoy each day for it could be the last. And if I'm going down, I'm going down happy and feeling no pain! LOL I talk big but actually, I don't even drink!
Have a great day!
Patty

Cool form! I've got to put this one on my list...although I think I'm so enamored because of your theme! Every waking moment is spent masking. disinfecting, social distancing, worrying I'm giving it to or getting it from him, or her, or they....

It's absolutely exhausting.

I vote for your panacea... I'll take a double!

Slainte! By George, if all it takes to stave off this virus, is a few swigs of the old brewskis then count me in. I find I've lost my taste for dirt in old age.

A fine retourne and I do believe your metre has shown marked improvement.

A fine contribution to the potlatch club and many thanks for sharing.

Dear JLR, for a moment, your Title threw me a curve until I realized it was a Retourne.
You sure have a way of telling us All of what you think of all the foolishness going on, and the problem is. You are 100% right.
Most are just too chicken to say it.
Bravo!

Great job here, Jim. You definitely have the gift for beauty in writing and that takes a trained eye to see all the beauty in things in our world despite the strife and feeling of despair right now.

I liked this on particular, my friend:

"We, me, you, they, making 'em sick
a stranger...jeez it could be me!
Let's roll back time to better days
when kids ate dirt, could handle germs.

Amen! : ) Bob
