I've lived your story many times. You did a great job and the picture of those dark clouds set the tone. I didn't find any mistakes. Sorry, I'm late with the review but my computer died a couple of days ago and I just got it back. Have a great day. Shirley

Ulla, this brings back so many start memories as a child living in Oklahoma and now in Texas both of which are in "tornado alley'. They are indeed frightening and the tension (as you portray in your work here) is palpable, indeed tangible to the smell of the air and the color of the sky and the pressure on your skin. Loren

Wow, thank you so much, Loren, for this. In Europe, we don't have tonadoes like that, and it was a frightening, but at the same time time a fascinating experience. I don't know whether that make sense, at all? Thank you so much again. All best. Ulla:))

I think your piece captured the feel of these early moments of tension and uncertainty when a tornado hits. The growing, building ominous sense of being swept up in a force much bigger than yourself. I had a tornado come within three miles of my house when I first moved here in 2017. Tornados in the US use the Fujimora scale, f1-f5. The cat scale is for hurricanes. estory

Thank you so much, estory. Yes, it was a scary and frightening night after it had passed. We were on high alert for more than 12 hours. I didn't know about the difference of Cat and Fujumora, so it was a f4. Same difeerence, it was deadly, and we were lucky to escape. Thank you so much again for a great review.Ulla:))

Tornadoes are scary. I have seen four of them in my lifetime. One was a Cat 5. The others were fairly small. I enjoyed reading your contest entry. I wish you the very best of luck.

Thanks a lot, Barbara. It's the only one I've ever come across and I hope the last one as well. Thanks again. Ulla:)))

Tornado's are the reason We left Illinois. That and Jim needing to find work. LOL Yes, That is how I remember the one that hit our hometown in Illinois in 1987. We survived that one. Soon after we packed our babies up and left for Nevada. Well done Ulla. Good Luck. Nancy:)

Thanks a lot, Nancy. Oh, so you come from Illinois? It's a state I know quite well having driven through from Chicago to Missouri quite a few times.I also used to fly into Chicago a lot during my twenty years of flying. I can understand why you left because of the tornadoes. It was frightening what happened, and we were incredible lucky. A hug. Ulla:)))

We've had our share of tornados that's for sure. Leaving endless amounts of damage behind ending precious lives. Your story is well-written, very interesting. I felt like I was there. Nicely done.

Thanks a lot, Misty. I'm sorry that you live with them. I've only ever had that one experience, which was a dramatic one, to say the least. Thanks so much, again. Ulla:)))

This fine recounting epitomizes the truth behind 'the calm before the storm'. Your friend's seemingly calm reaction to the approaching upheaval is emblematic of the pragmatism that comes with horrific experience.

Best of luck in the competition, Ulla.

Peace, Lee

Thanks a lot, Lee, for the review, the best wishes, and not to forget the extra star. I'm so very pleased. Strangely enough, over the years, I've always visited them in the tornado season, but this was the only time it really happened. And then... nothing happened. A strange anticlimax. Ulla:)))

We don't get tornados in my part of Western Australia so they would be very frightening to me. I didn't find any glitches and best of luck in the True Story Flash contest.

Thank you so much, Judy. No, we don't get them in Spain either or anywhere in Europe. It was a frightening experience. But strangely exciting, as well. I don't know whether that makes sense, at all? Thanks again. Ulla:)))

Tornados have always been a fear of mine - I remember sitting outside as one started to brew - I was not quite 2! I feel it more than remember the visuals - I remember the noise from the inside of the house and the quiet outside... A chilling 102 words...

I hope I never encounter a tornado. Theoretically, we will know about hiding in a basement technique but what is going to happen if there is no basement around?

Thank you so much, Iza. It was very frightening, indeed. Well if there's no basement, then we'll die, I suppose. Ulla:)))
