Such a beautiful offering of personification, Lady Sal - sometimes those winds are harsher than we expected, but the tough ole roots and trunk won't let go!! ;) Beautiful free verse - thanx for sharing! ;) Yvette

There you are. I was just going to fanmail you. How is my mighty oak of Alabama? I've been thinking about her a lot lately because I haven't seen her around. I hope you're well. I've been missing you so much!
Now, back to the poem. I'm so glad you enjoyed this, and delighted that you were able to stop by today for a review. I appreciate you so much.
Sending my best today as always, Sally xoxo

Let's just say that my last two posts were 'from the heart'... but she's a tough blonde and you can't kill bad grass (LOL!), but that grass is working on finding some patches of sunshine now and I feel better letting my fingers type again - don't know when the muses will be ready to stand their happy asses up, but they're on notice that it will be VERY soon whether they like it or not! ;) Take care, Beautiful friend... and I promise you a nonet tonight! :) Yvette

I read your author notes as well as the poem, and I can easily relate to the comparison between the oak and the stability we are asked to maintain in our faith. I loved that you gave a voice to the tree and let it speak about bending but not breaking through it's trials, something we must all do. And, i agree, we cannot do this without realizing we are in his hands.

No one can uproot those grounded in God! This is such a touching message of hope in the midst of not just a storm, but a terrible catastrophe. Many times that's how storms can feel, and the deeper your roots go, the stronger faith grows. Have a blessed day sweet one, thank you for this beauty! ð?¥°ð?¥°ð?¥°â?¤ï¸?ð???

This was a lovely free verse poem. I really loved the positivity that radiated from your words and the trees themselves. We all need some hope sometimes! Great work x

Oh, how I love reading and writing poetry about trees. I have written many.

In many ways, trees are like humans with great endurance as you creatively and innovative described in your poem.

Perhaps you should have included a photograph of that oak with your poem. I would love to see it.

Thank you for your words of inspiration.

Love this beautiful ode/poem in simple down to earth vocabulary; indeed, trees don't migrate and stand their ground; wonderful message in your verse; thanks for sharing.

Thank you for your very much needed "ray of hope" as we deal with the pandemic, uncertain times, and our own personal health issues. I am encouraged by your symbolic oak example. I very much appreciate your sharing the special, mighty tree in your front yard. Cheers- Joan

Your use of personification draws the reader in. This also make a strong metaphor. The phrase "be as strong and steady as the mighty oak", rings true here. The reader will not quake as much if they can gain courage from this poem,
