(I remember the Claytons adverts)
As you know Steve, I totally agree with you on Trump's dangerous and dumb decisions. I cringe whenever I hear his name and can't abide listening to his mangled sentiments and sentences, but I force myself to listen, to try to understand why others are bewitched to blind allegiance by him. I just don't get why somebody so obviously lacking in wisdom, empathy, respect and moral values can be president.
Those one-sided 'treaties' are doomed to failure and more deaths, but Trump supporters I am sure would never admit that it was he who set them up to fail.

    Thanks, Lisa.

It might have been just NZ and Aussie who had Claytons thrust down our throats. I didn't have any trouble finding the artwork from an old ad...

Yep, five minutes listening to the Orange Man spouting his unpalatable stuff should be enough to convince any reasonable person just what kind of person he is. The fact that roughly 50% of Americans can't tell is the real worry!

The Versailles Treaty which forced peace upon Germany at the end of WWI led directly to the seeds of WWII Totally different situation, I know, but just the faulty idea of only talking to one side in a conflict represents the ultimate stupidity.

I can't help but applaud the political piece because I agree that Trump comes up with some of the more ridiculous things any president has ever thought of before. Of course, as you say he hopes to benefit for even having proposed such deals. I'll never understand how so many people feel he is a doing a good job as president.

Beth, many thanks for stopping by.

Yep, it certainly beats the hell out of me how some people worship this man. You only have to listen to him speak for five minutes to see what he is.

Dear Steve,
The rating is for the well scripted and grammatical writing, but I am truly at a loss as to whether such a serious topic is in its right place on this site. Maybe it could be better in a satirical mode. I hasten to say that I do not disagree with the points you make. I just think that it would be better placed in "Letters to the Editor".

Thanks, Reg. You may be right, but on the other hand, it is something I care deeply about and I feel it is every writer's duty to comment about matters of such importance whenever and wherever they can, So yes, my thoughts will be appearing in other places as well as here.

Never trust a guy who doesn't drink, but gets drunk on his own gas.

The who notion of Trump as a master deal maker is a load of guano.
As is his business acumen--not that he knows what acumen means.
The Afgahn business is a straw dog.
The Mid-East proposal is a blatant sop to the Israelis. His worldview is a prism of his own self interest.

Let's drink a toast to another impotent vice.

Peace, Lee

    Any thoughts on Bernie's surge?

I'm a little concerned about Bernie's ultimate elect-ability, but, I rather like his progressive platform.

Americans feared Roosevelt's New Deal, and LBJ's Great Society, but programs like Social Security and Medicare, and Medicaid have become inextricably woven into to American society. If it's good for us, we'll find a way to pay for it.

Aha! Does that mean you will vote for him if he becomes the nominee?

I'll vote for Mortimer Snerd if he gets the nod.

I agree with what you wrote. This president is at the bottom of the totem pole for me. You did a nice job writing this and I did enjoy reading this. Shirley

Thanks, Shirley. The bottom of the totem pole? Is that where you would chop it down?

Sigh. Your assessment of the potential gains of the "Claytons" deals are probably correct. In Israel, even the non-Palestinians probably don't like the potential impact of the deal.
There's a beer called Schaeffer which used to have the slogan, "the beer to have when you're having more than one."

Thanks, Helen. I just can't see the sense of any peace deal that doesn't actually involve one of the main parties.

Thanks for the spag alert too.

I do not completely understand US and Israel's relationship but I thought for many years we have been allies. I guess maybe I was wrong. As for the Middle East, I don't trust any of those countries. They have been fighting each other since the beginning of time. I enjoyed reading your post.

    Thanks, Barbara.

Allies is one thing; supporting illegal occupation of Palestinian territory and calling it a peace deal is something else again. Not to mention the silliness of negotiating a peace deal without the participation of one of the warring parties.
