A very well-written heartfelt poem and tribute to Phyllis and her friends and family who mourns her death. A lady that impressed everyone wherever she goes.

Thanks for the thoughtful review Sandra. It is a sad day at fanstory. I hope that her family will be consoled by the various, heartfelt poems of her friends here. j
Comment from Gloria ....
You've done such a fine job mixing many of the elemental joys of Phyllis into this fine poem. Even the penguins are looking forlorn and the sky is sorrowful in agreement.
Excellent tribute to a fine Fanstorian and her family.

You know me and capital letters....rebel... will do.
I love how the various writers blend their unique style to create a lovely collection of poems and insights on Phyllis. I hope it will bring comfort.
I am visiting my sister in Tavenier Fla. Feb 20 ~May 1. So if you happen to head south, give me a call. Even if just to meet at a mile marker to say hello. Wishing you all the best, j
-
There is no doubt it will be a comfort. It's touching to witness the response from our community. Wow, that's a long visit! We can definitely manage a meet and greet at some point. :) Looking forward!

Yeah, I hope they don't wonder that at the immigration haha. I have been working hard for 2 years since I returned from Africa. Not much to do until Mike's brother's farm house (where we live now) gets sold and the snow is gone in vermont, so perfect. Plus I miss my sister.
Would love to put a face to those beautiful poems one day, cheers,
-
Absolutely, dear. You could visit with your sister, too, if you like! :)

Phyllis was a tremendous mentor to me. When I first joined this site everything about my writing was terrible. Phyllis taught me everything with love and patience.

I remember fondly your 'duets' with Phyllis. She left you a valuable legacy and that's a blessing... a wonderful souvenir.
Fanstory is sad today.
Bless, j

OMG, Judy, I had no idea. I immediately went to her site and saw the lovely note her daughter posted. I've always known Phyllis to be kind and supportive, and extensive in her praise. I will miss her.
Your poem pays lovely tribute, direct and honest, and written in a simple, engaging way that will make those who didn't know her wish they had. I'm glad I was one of the lucky ones who did get to experience her kindness.

Thanks for your thoughts on this. A sad day on fanstory. She will be missed.
-
Absolutely. She'd only become a fan of mine within the last couple of months, but I always looked forward to her reviews because they were always among the kindest and most encouraging.
-
yeah, she did remind me of the neighbor that pops in once in a while with a funny little photo or dessert recipe. A fun break in the day that left a little joy.
i love all the warm hearted poems and lovely thoughts the fanstorians present. It will be a comfort to her family I hope. j

I "reviewed" the daughter's message (she got a six) by responding to let her know what a kind and lovely woman I considered her mother, and how gracious it was of her (the daughter) to alert the Fanstorians to Phyllis' passing, despite how hard it must have been. That poem she posted from November was so beautiful and so telling. It sounds as though Phyllis knew what to expect, embraced it, and recognized and appreciated the wonderful life she'd had the chance to live.
-
Yeah, that November poem was heartbreaking.
I wish you all the best Michele, you are a caring friend to so many, j
-
What a sweet thing to say, Judy. Thank you. The feeling is definitely mutual.

I have my moments, bless, j

Yes, it is a sad day. Her family will be blessed to see this. She has left them a beautiful legacy in writing, I'm sure, and all of this is a fitting addition to it. ❤

Very well said, dear "Judy of the Woods!" I especially liked your middle stanza, remembering how she liked sharing about places using Google Earth. Thanks for joining us in remembering Phyllis!

I think this is a lovely verse written in remembrance of Phyllis.
Nicely rhymed, well told.
My thoughts and prayers are with her family as they are the ones that are suffering now.

What a beautiful tribute. I think you summed things up very well. I always enjoyed her stories, poems, her great advice in Bowl of Stew and her penguins were so adorable. I like all the others, will miss her dearly, but find comfort in knowing that she doesn't have to struggle anymore.

What a beautiful tribute about your friend. I'm going to read some of her poems; probably I'll get a taste as to her writing on Fan Story. Sympathy and thoughts coming your way for your friend.
