A really good chapter for delving into Piper's soul. We get to see his inner conflict rather than just accepting his good luck and going on. He thinks and feels deeply!

The last paragraph was brilliant!
The old master recognizes that Piper is so talented that even nature stops to listen, and then, in the last sentence, the realization that Piper needs understanding.

Great chapter, my friend!

Yes, affection feels a bit overwhelming. Well, it feels like Rupert is adjusting much better than Piper. I don't know, he acts as if he was forced to stay there when in reality he refused to be 'saved'.

    Hi May 1,
Thank you again for the great analysis. Rupert has been with the elves for two weeks so he has had some time to adjust. Piper had only been there one night so far so he may take a little time to catch up. And Piper has a whole new family he didn't know he had. It's a bit more to deal with.
Again, your comments are most helpful.

I like the way you bring out the Characters and the explanation of Pipper. As someone who have never read your work, I see I have missed a good read. Thanks for sharing.

-You don't disappoint with suspense and
questions in this chapter, Debi.
-We finally get to hear and see Rupert, and like
Piper, we want to know all about him, but he
is so enchanted with being with the pixies
and where he is that Piper has a very good thought:
"Is it possible they put a charm on him?"
-Piper so wanted to spend time with his pal,
like the old times, but Rupert is wound up.
-Even in the beginning, Piper is "contemplative."
-He is a smart young man, and he isn't just
going to take what he is given, and say this is great!
-He has been through too much, and not having
parents, and losing his grandfather gives him
a whole different perspective. You show that very well.
-I like the ending, too, as Piper is in no hurry
to see MC and then takes out his own flute;
he doesn't need an enchanted one!
-I am guessing there is more to MC than just flute
playing; I think he understands Piper's feelings perfectly.
-It will be very interesting to see developments
with him and Piper, and with Rupert and Piper.
-I could go on, but you have done a great job with
opening up the story to many possibilities-
"And why didn't Redd-Leif tell me
two weeks ago he was my father
when he told me about Melodica?
I'm supposed to believe I'm not human."
-That says a lot, in my opinion.

You are very welcome and deserving, Debi. I think this was one of your best chapters. You brought the story into a new realm of possibility that is exciting! I think MC is going to be a pivotal character, too:)

Hello Debi,
Another wonderful addition to your tale of Piper.
Piper wasn't the only one surprised by the reunion with Rupert,
I found it a bit odd too. Maybe Rupert has been enchanted.
I thought Piper's doubts were right on the mark,
despite the fantastic revelations, it definitely turns his world upside down and in the back of his mind, I imagine Burkehart's warning still lingers.
The interaction of Master Crescendo and Piper should be fascinating.
Outstanding work.
Best wishes for a great New Year.
Robert

A small typo: Talk about spectacular! The pixies star[t]ed dancing
Suggestion: A musician who was so talented even insects and leaves took notice. A musician so naturally [talented] perhaps "gifted" for variety.

    Hi Robert,
First of all, thank you for the wonderful six star rating. Next, I love your suggestion of "gifted" and made the change. I think it sounds much better. Thank you for catching the typo too.
I appreciate your comments about the story, especially Piper's reunion with Rupert. I based it on an actual experience I had when an anticipated reunion with a friend did not go as expected. Who knows, maybe Burkehart was right. We'll see what Piper finds out.

I hope you new year has been off to a great start and that 2020 is the best so far.

I like following this story of Piper, half elf, half Fae, a musician who's instrument is part of him, and vice versa, and I think this is true, in real life, one can play and instrument, but not all instrument players are musicians, they're instrumentalists, Expecting a true reunion with Rupert, he's disappointed it's not the case, (I know what you mean Debi) just love the story Debi, blessings, Roy
Typo : The pixies star(t)ed dancing.

    Hi Roy,
This is such an encouraging review. I agree not all instrument players are musicians, but the ones who are just seem to make the instrument an extension of themselves.
    Thanks for catching the typo.

"A musician who was so talented even insects and leaves took notice. " What a creative line explaining the 'magic' of the musician and the flute!

Another great episode to your story.

I am looking forward to the next installment.

A very well written chapter. Piper is confused and suspicious, overwhelmed by the change in his situation. Then the meeting with Rupert doesn't go the way Piper planned. No wonder he pours out his heart in his music. You show the loneliness of genius with sympathy and compassion.

Happy New Year, Debi

Blessings Julia

Another wonderful chapter! I think the part that goes "path with its beautiful hedges and tress" is meant to be hedges and trees? I love the part of the bees humming. It is also one of my favorite sounds.
