The stigma of left handedness54 total reviews

...and good on you.
A very small canvas - yet some clever word play: 'habit', 'stigma(ta)'. 'right'.
I just wonder if 'but' or 'yet' might be better words than 'meant' - after all, it was not the 'stigma' that kept you a lefty? Still, this is just a small point. I mean no disrespect to your piece or your words - and I wish you the very best in your competition.
cheers

Phill, yes I see that as a feasibility. Thanks for the suggestion, Merry Christmas.

No worries, I personally think this is the most ridiculous attitude ever. God made us u ique, left and right-handed. Enjoy your heightened level of creativity because of this gift.
Sending you my best today as always,
Sally :)

It has always struck me that God does not condemn the left handed, in fact the kingdom of God is barred to no man, it's more about superstition than law, it's never been up to man who grants worthiness, it's always been about grace and faith. An excellent monostitch poem, good luck, blessings, Roy

Roy, yes I agree. It does always amaze the misinterpretations some can read into the bible. I believe in the King James version, left-handedness is mentioned something 21 times. Never in a good way.

Hi,
When I started school, this nonsense was stopped. (or in this case, it is nun-sense.) Anyway, I just cannot imagine how difficult it must have been for you, physically and emotionally. So glad you stayed true to yourself and found an outlet with poetry. Good luck in the contest!!

Elf, yes it was a challenge that I fortunately overcame. Thank you for the good wishes.

Ho, wow, an interesting mini tale of Nun-influence education and the disadvantage of being left-handed. What an complex, interesting accompanying painting. But they did not, could not change you. A fun read. What an experience to go through but glad you could write about it.

My brother was left handed. Many of his teachers wasted their time trying to change him to write with his right hand. When he graduated, he did just fine and became very successful with his left hand.

Thomas, your brother knows, as I do, that us lefties work at life harder and as a result we do find ourselves doing quite well in spite of my being able to turn wrenches very well.

I remember this was done in some schools, my husband can use both his hands well. Your words say it all. Well written. Good luck in the contest, Laura.-----

Even though I don't have nuns or anything, I've heard of this before! It's good that you've remained strong and never changed. Best of luck in the contest and have a good Christmas!

What kind of nun school did you go to? Goodness when they tie your hands behind your back, that is considered abusive behavior. I hope I read that wrong.

Rosemary, this was a long time ago in Ireland and I do think that the method has been modified.

MB,, thanks a lot! I struggle being a lefty doing the handyman stuff, fortunately, I was able to earn a living not dependent on the need to use tools in my profession.
