Your use of allusions will invite the reader to scramble for more information. Researching on-line so easily and instantly getting a sufficient amount of information. And the irony is that as they are reading of the dust collecting paper or hard-copy books, they are using technology. This is a great topic for debate. Many of us are saddened by the disappearances of bookstores and libraries. Others have never had need for either. Well thought out

Liz: Perhaps it is the irony that such thoughts popped up in my mind in 1975 when I worked in the college library as a student-worker. I wrote the original poem then but modified it a bit when I found that paper I had put in an antic book. I wonder now if it was some sort of premonition about the knowledge in the print getting replaced by the digital media. Thanks for the thought provoking comment and the encouraging rating. My best regards and wishes for the holidays.

That is an amusing irony. Yes, a premonition. Why not? The best of holidays to you & your loved ones.

Lots of knowledge here and thank you for the Bayesian brain clarification because I was going to have to look it up. It is a shame that books are becoming a thing of the past. Random Reflections is a wonderful title. Love the voyage you were on. Well done.

    Hello Supe.
I am delighted to read your comments. As an avid reader of books of knowledge and fiction, I feel lost on reading on the screen. The original poem I wrote on Sept. 7, 1974 titled Me and the books. I was an undergraduate student and was working in the library as a student-help. This poem has the central theme of that work. I found the original card on which I had penned the poem in my archives. It survived all these years but I changed the narrative to correspond with the current situation. Thanks for the encouraging words and the 5 stars. Please read other poems I have posted under "Random Reflections" book title. It is available in my portfolio.

And an interesting reflective journey in the library surrounded by human kind's arduous intellectual yearnings and struggle for understanding of the Universe we inhabit - an enjoyable read
