This is a lovely Refrain June, I loved reading about these beautiful and clever creatures. Today I saw the first Blue Ullysis butterfly of the summer, came down onto our wet lawn, always bring delight. Lovely presentation,
cheers,

Oh, June, this is just lovely! You've got me wanting to continued the melody with more verses... I can get the last line almost right every time!! ;) :) Seriously, though, this one really does have a melody that so very easily develops in the reader's voice as it's read out loud.... and the visuals created are wonderful: jousting and kingly pleasure and all!! ;) :) Thank you so very much for sharing the Roger's Refrain, my lady, and reminding us of the brilliance of nature! ;) Yvette

It amazes me that the Monarch can and does fly so far twice a year. Good work.

"Roger's Refrain" is a lovely and appealing form. I had never heard of it till
today. You have used the style creatively to paint an awe-inspiring
picture of the garden and the amazing monarchs.

The monarch butterfly is a beautiful specimen. Your poem is so full of admiration for this species and it flows in a lovely lilting manner. The picture is beautiful. Their innate knowledge regarding the Seasons and there travels is a marvel.

Hi June,
This is so beautifully written. I so love these longer poems. So much detail and creativity. The flow is spot on and the rhythm and rhyme are perfect.
I love the presentation, and there is even a little bit of history in there about its migration.
Just wonderful. So deserves a six, sorry I don't have one.

An excellent example of the Rogers Refrain. Poetic form, June. This form is unknown to me and is very interesting. Thanks for a lovely read.

Comment from Gloria ....
First off, June. This is a terrific presentation all around. The feature the totality of the words brought into the foreground after a visual feast of butterfly.
So many vivid images here of royal colours, the dragonflies, the butterflies and all jousting together in nature's call.
Really nice work with your Roger's Refrain. :)

A beautiful poem about the Monarch butterfly. It won't be too long before they're back. It doesn't surprise me about the 3,000 mile flight. I believe they migrate to Mexico. Good meter and rhyme, and you've met the challenge very well.

Thank you for introducing me to the Roger's Refrain, which is perfect for this theme. (I hope to visit a butterfly sanctuary near San Luis Obispo, California during our annual train trip during Thanksgiving.) I enjoyed your rhymes, repeats and rhythmic quatrains. My only regret is not having the six stars this poem deserves. Smiles- Joan
