Well said, Geoff! Seven years ago, the site was better in many ways, but even then, before we began to lose good features, everyone expected five stars, even for one-line "poems"! Every January I post that I will not review those tiny 5-7-5's and the like because the review has to be so much longer than the few words used.
I review what I feel like reviewing and I try to reciprocate. Now that I'm busy editing, I'm not doing as much on the site, but I still like to see the new posts. I'm addicted, so I guess I'lll stay around until they turn out the lights. :)

Thanks I posted this a while ago. Now he seems to have opened up so I can review from both accounts might see what I can bump up some more hehe. I know a lot of my favourite writers have left sadly.

I am new here but find it very, very hard to review the one, three, five line poems. I mean - what can you say? I enjoyed your poem very much and I'm glad I'm not the only one that has similar thoughts. But I'm also having fun here as well. :)

I think there is another lady similar name to yours in FS and I knew she was in America. Glad to be in touch with another Aussie from our favourite state. I think you know we love WA.

I think we were down your way in 1993 the first of our two trips to WA. If you have not looked at the WA trips in Tootsie55 check them out you might find we were near you in either of those trips. 1993 and 2000 several chapters for each.

My posts don't pay much because I get points by reviewing at night, when I have time. Last year I charged $100 on my credit card to FS so I could post and have points to pay others. When I got my statement there was $300!!!! charged. I contacted Tom to complain and he said it was already spent! I should have dropped out then and there, but I enjoy my FS friends, and by damn, I"d sure paid for it. But now except for a few times when I spend $10 occasionally to promote, I am not spending any more money on this sight except membership. I really enjoy my FS friends and think it's incredible to "talk" to people from all over the world.
I do not like the system here, but what can we do?

Thanks mate. Glad I have had some folks "of like mind" reviewing this. I still battle with the idea of moving on. Bob Hartson (Mastery)says he has only ever paid Monthly, I might do that too for a time. Sorry I have not looked at your stuff recently. Will get to it. More trips you might have missed over on Tootsie55.

H Gail congrats on the long union with your hubby. Always pleased with marriages that have "stuck." Maybe you had the "Eternal Matchmaker" as we have had? This is about Fanstory. Not sure how long you have been a part of it. I mostly stay clear of the contests but have entered a few.Thanks for the review will check your stuff out. Have a lookt Tootsie55 for my wife's trip book on tours we have done in our own country Australia. We are both disabled and sadly no more trips. If you are interested check out the last few chapters of my autobiography I am about to try and get published..."The Little Dog That Wouldn't Let Go" subtitled "GOD NEVER LETS GO!"

Really sorry to hear you can no longer travel. That day is coming for us I know - we enjoy taking our trailer out - have explored Nevada ghost towns for a couple years. This year, must branch out.

Hey brother it is too bad how long hard work is sometimes over looked for more short poems and such. Some people want to make quick money for promoting their own work so they review the best paying ones.

You can always skip something you don't want to read. I know what you mean about short poems. They are hard to review. I know of several writers who don't pay to promote their work. I certainly don't get the reviews even though I always promote. I think you're right about the professionals on the site. Some of them should be off marketing their writing instead of competing with us amateurs. I wasn't sure what you meant by professional reviewers winning contests. Are you talking about the reviewer of the month, etc. I certainly agree with a lot of what you've said. By the way, drop by sometime. I write too. judi

Yes, I only learned recently the most frequent winner of Reviewer of the Month does solely reviewing professionally...ie reviewing is how they make their income. As well as winning the reviewer of the month contest often as well. Sorry I have not been by lately was battling with whether to post this or not but it is done now and I am getting a lot of reviews that are agreeable as well. Tootsie has another triup0 get to you soon.

You're welcome. It seems that the same people win "Reviewer of the Month" over and over. I don't know that much about their backgrounds, but I believe I read that one who's always up there is a professional reviewer. You are right to express your thoughts, and many agree with you. judi

I have often wondered why sometimes the reviews must be longer than those short little poems. It doesn't make sense. I struggle reviewing because of my time restrains. I did enjoy reading your poem.

Thanks, another new friend. I promise to check your stuff out. I am due to renew Middle of March and still making up my mind if I want to or not. I am in Australia and our Exchange rate with the Greenback makes the coast a lot higher from Down Under. SOmeone told me today they have always only paid Monthly I might do the same.

Hi Janice another new friend I have to check out. Thanks for the great review. I can't believe the amount of likemindedness I have seen in response to my poem. I was battling with the thought of posting this as I do with the cost of membership being in Australia it costs a lot more from Down Under. SOmeone said they have always only paid by the month I might do that for a while too.
