"Septembrise" is an interesting word. If we all killed each other over our political beliefs there would be no one left. That's why we're advised not to talk about politics or religion. A wise man somewhere said that once. Marilyn

Oh, wholehearted agreement, Marilyn. That's why I never discuss either of those topics with anyone ;-)

But wouldn't it be great if we could talk about them without the desire to become homicidal?

    Cheers, Craig

Craig, This is a very well written poem and I have to agree with you somewhat. It is hard to have faith or trust in people these days. But it is so easy for me to trust in God! You used very good words and good imagery with your words. Blessings, Teri

This poem says it all. What is wrong with mankind that we
have to kill each other? Why can't we get along? Live and let live. I love your last verse here CD. Well done! :) Nancy

What a wonderful word - poignant and timely to be used in September. A very sad but beautiful piece; well-written as always with great rhythm and awesome rhyme. Well done, my friend.

A very well-written poem about how the human race react to power and politics when they lose their brains and do the stupidest things just to prove their own point of view.

I Love Your Poem

I hate to say I think you're right--
(See? "Hate" -- already making fists..)
But we should fear nuclear night
when such a pompous ass exists
and in control of mammoth pow'r.
It wasn't voters finest hour...

Maybe it's as we get older we tend to only remember the good past and not the whole past. When I read the word 'septembrise' I thought it was going to be about Spring Cleaning, and thinking about it, it is.
Good one Craig,
cheers,
valda

Great job, Craig and sadly it fits in with 9/11 although I suspect there are other horrible massacres too. Humankind is a mystery to me, but it seems as I have said many times before it's because we do not know how to properly use our brains and have sadly used it to lie and deceive in order to dominate and destroy, rather than its useful purpose. I can't say we won't have to go through a massive change before we figure that out, if ever.

Another fine poem from your quarter.

Gloria

Such a somber and sobering thought on this the memorial of that terrible day. Well done with the verses and it gives me an easy word to remember. Wonder why this month was selected for this dubious honor.

Apparently it dates back to 1792, in Paris. A month after the overthrow of the monarchy, there was fear of political prisoners held in Paris jails creating a counter-revolutionary uprising. More than 1,000 prisoners were executed, most of whom had no such aspirations. This became known as the September massacres, which is where the word comes from. Thanks, Helen :)

Thanks for the explanation. I would have thought Parisians would have picked July for Bastille Day.

I enjoyed your well-written poem commentary on the human species, Craig. Your words flow smoothly, the rhymes are great, and the ideas are thought-provoking. I believe you are correct. When humans get or take what they want, they aren't satisfied. They want more and more and will stop at nothing to win. Thanks for sharing. Jan
