This one is so very touching. I love looking out at our farm. I live on five acres and down a fairly quiet gravel road. Deer LOVE living here. We see so many every night. They are beautiful to watch. Your words are tough to read, although I know the hardships wildlife endure.

Beautiful! I sit in the morning and watch them in my backyard. We live in a small resort community and there is no hunting within here, so we have a bit of a population! They do eat all my flowers, so I've stopped planting those, but I LOVE the deer. You did a fantastic job with this piece and I loved every bit of it, the topic, the rhythm, the flow, the art choice. Great job and Keep Writing!

The deer don't have to wait for Heaven - they live here and eat in everyone's yards plus shooting is not allowed. So deer have the run of the place. I like your painting!

Are you a closet deer hater? Lol. You may have them there. Sounds like a wonderful place to live. Thanks for the charming review. Teehee

Pam beautifully written but nerve racking that there is no hope. Looking at that great watercolor seems so sweet and then reading your words about their fate. thanks so much. yours, diana

Absolutely, I agree with you 150%. Your poem was a beautiful rendition of a story of a mother and baby who are literally fighting for their lives... not just from predators, but the biggest 'threat' of them all - MAN! I get so very upset by how we encroach upon animals land, take away their homes, take away their food supply, for some shallow and superficial 'need' that cement-city-people say is crucial for their survival - yeah right! I have been really upset lately, because these new people who will be moving in across the street, are ripping out TWO FULL AND MATURE trees... one is a beautiful pine tree, the other not so sure... but the idiot who bought this house (next to a mountain mind you), wants to 'kill' and pull out these trees, because he has 'allergies' --- never mind the fact, that he will take away a home to the white owl who lives in it, and sings to us almost nightly, or how plants/trees help Mother Earth to 'cool off' and they help replenish the very air we breath -- but God forbid he has to put up with a stuffy nose -- I made numerous calls to several different agencies and animal advocacy groups, but to no avail... so, this poem hits close to home... and it is so upsetting.. and not one other person I have talked to, wants these trees removed... Arghhh! Anyway, sorry for the rant --- but you started it!!!! :)

I just love this painting, Pam. You've really captured the "essence" of the deer.

So true that humans are invading animals habitats which is causing them to come into ours too. A sad story and a true story and a truly delightful poem, Pam.

You've told us a beautiful story about survival in a well written poem. Good rhyme and meter. Flowed right along when reading.

I agree that we've infringed too much on their territory, and they're the ones who pay for it. Doesn't seem fair.

Hello Pamusart
Your poem about the fawn and his mother reminds me of the book Bambi which was very emotional when I myself was a child
Now to read your thoughts from the painting was the same Love how you ended knowing that the fan and his mother-
they both just bask within the light
They ride a chariot of gold
and time has stopped; they don't grow old
The sun now shines from deep within
It drops to earth; new day begins
