"IT WAS A DARK TIME" that is classic Patty. a great story and so many similarities with my dogs, BINGO & KENO. I will pour my first cup of Joe into a houseplant in a futile tribute, tomorrow..............meeshu

Hi, meeshu,
Thank you for the symbolic coffee. Hope your plants can live through it! Say Hi to Bingo and Keno for me,

Hi patty. I think Bernie is a very cute dog. But yes he does need a groomer. Lol. Dogs with beards or long flowing facial hair have a tendency to need grooming. My sister has a Yorker. I know you are having some health issues. And you had to quit drinking coffee. A suggestion. What about decaf coffee it'll tea? Possible? I switched from coffee to decaf green tea. It is known as the tea for dieters. Drink as much as you like plain. Not sweetened. It gives your mouth and stomach something to do and is a natural appetite suppressant. Hot tea. Or refrigerate after brewing. I only like the Celestial Seasoning brand. It has less added flavors. Good luck in any case. Remember to eat your protein first. Your stomach will be the size of an egg. The body's nervous system needs protein. Thank you for sharing

Hi, Pam,
The doctors do not want me substituting decaf either. Most teas and coffee have acids that will damage the new tissue in my stomach after surgery. So, part of the prep is to eliminate these things from my diet.
Thank you for the R&R and suggestions,

Hi, Gert,
Yes, I am the Mistress in the Bernie and Howie stories - and they were indeed a bit scared of the woman without caffeine,

This is a great addition to your story. It's very interesting, descriptive. The dog's reactions are quite comical. Running for cover, lol. It's funny how dogs can pick up on things the way they do.

Patty, I always love your Howie and Bernie stories. This is an adorable picture you used to go with your story. They both seem like really cute and sweet dogs. You used great words that seemed like would come from them. Great job my friend! love, Teri

So cuuuute. Their solution was to hide. LOL! You had to stop drinking coffee though, didn't you? That would be really hard if you had come to depend on it. Is decaf acceptable or not?

Hi, Phyllis,
Yes, after thirty-five years of drinking coffee, I have to give it up. Decaf isn't acceptable because it has even more acid in it.
In order to prepare for the surgery next year, I will have to give up coffee and learn how to eat again. The gastric bypass surgery will make it easier to have the knee replacements, so the next few years will be interesting.
However, I know I have a food problem - I have had for years. My childhood and teen years weren't the best, and so my relationship with food is all wrong.
So, it will be a good thing all in all,

You have written a delightful story of how our fur babies notice us, and know when our routine has changed. Being the owner of a fur baby who can have a bad hair day quite often, I truly relate to your well-written story. Bernie is a cutie!

Hi, Shirley,
Bernie and Howie are two of my favorite characters. Based on my dogs, their adventures are included on several veterinarian's websites around the country.
I'm glad you enjoyed this little tale of my puppies feeling sorry for me,

A coffee addict is dangerous to be around when they are without their morning fix. This is very well written with a smooth flow of words, making for a very interesting read.

Hi, Charlie,
Yes,...coffee addicts can be very dangerous. Coffee withdrawal is no joke.

I don't like coffee, so I'm not addicted.

Patty, :)
You write well without coffee. I'm sorry still. I really hope it doesn't affect you badly. I just want you to know that you still have it! :)
Please, take care,
Nome
