Ha, what a smart little dog is Bernie. A most delightful story, patty, and I love the line Bernie was going to get it now.
I guess if a person got a bath out of the deal of rolling in the compost, all is good with the world.
A most entertaining read. :)

The smile froze on her lips and then disappeared as her brain recognized what Bernie was up to. The little dog was rolling around on his back with all four feet up in the air. His tongue was hanging out, and little mutters of delight came from his mouth. Nothing would make the Mistress bathe him faster than a good old roll in the compost pile.' This made me laugh tremendously. Are your dog's terriers? The gorgeous picture is almost unbearably cute. My jack Russell cross terrier loves rolling in fox dung. I have to keep a constant eye out if she is free to roam. It is apparently to disguise their smell going down bolt holes when hunting. Whatever, our other dog, a collie-lab cross just looks on in wonder. The Jack Russell, Buffy, is in the bath a lot. She is almost all white too, so that makes it worse :) A brilliant and cheering write well done! Love and regards Meia x

Good photo. He's adorable. Looks like my daughter's dog. She says schnauzers don't shed like my Tibbies do. Of course, mine shed their entire soft, downy, undercoat twice a year, so I was always combing them. :)
Clever idea for a poem. My dogs didn't like baths, but at least they all went into the shower stall together. I first tried one at a time, and they cried and fought to get out.

Just when he thought he was smelling good is probably what he was really thinking because Freddie does that too and he hates baths. LOL They are such a Joy in our lives. Make us stop and smell the roses. Hug him for me. He's a cutie. Thanks for sharing his story. Nancy

This is absolutely a lot of fun and made for a really good chuckle. I am unable to bath my little girl as I have a not very workable left side for such thins so she gets it done once a month by a neighbor and that also means a bit of a haircut as well. Your dog is lovely indeed as is the write...Dinah

Fabulous ending that brought out Bernie's character, summed up in one ingenious plan. This piece brings out the appealing and clever nature of animals. I enjoyed reading the delivery of a very unique story. Well done
