Good picture selection that fits the short story perfectly. The reader was interested from the beginning until the end. The story is full of both imagery and emotions.

Thank you so much.

Dawn, thank you for having an open and honest rant on how you feel about being a Torontonian as well as commenting on a tragic and senseless act that took place recently. Canada is one on the many peaceful and beautiful places in the world. This horrific act will not define it. I am so glad you are safe and pleased to read you are not a defenseless old lady... I do not see that in you. Thank you for sharing your thoughts. ~DD

A very well-written rant and reporting on the tragic events happening in your home town. I am glad you are okay, it seems when someone wants to kill they will find a way to do it with or without any guns or ammunision.

Thanks for sharing this. I still don't understand why this madness happens so often nowadays. I am horrified. My thoughts go to the families of the victims.
All the best,
Antonieta

Thanks Dawn I get to know a bit more behind the poet. What happened there is a tragedy and senseless act. I Just don't understand the world today, why so many people are going nuts. Thanks for the share and have a wonderful day.

I believe the people of Toronto are strong enough and proud enough to (as their Mayor said) maintain their tolerance and inclusiveness in spite of the actions of a psychopath who caused so much pain for so many. Kudos to the police officers involved as well. What a different example they set to the one we are constantly confronted with from south of the border. The bottom line is that good people should not allow evil people to dictate their actions and their emotions, and I know it won't in the case of the citizens of Toronto.
I'm glad you are OK, and glad that you are determined not to let this bring you down. Great job with the writing.

What a horrible tragedy. Ot seems no place on this earth is safe from the depravity of man. I am so glad you are physically ok though tragedies like this take their toll in other ways. Thank you for writing this affirmation of your hope and your resolve. Thank you for sharing your work.

Thank you, Sandy - much appreciated. Yes, it does seem that way, and yet, we have had tremendous support, and acts of compassion, bravery and heroism as well.

That's the Torontonian spirit, Dawn. You should send this in to the Thornhill Post because it's an excellent Op-Ed and my guess is the folks there could use some "fighting" spirit right at the moment. Such a pity that everything is being weaponized including language. It isn't even safe in your own home any more.
Anyway your conversational style is always appealing. Many thanks for the share.

Hi Dawn. Your well written essay brings to the forefront the awful feelings you are experiencing regarding the tragedy in Toronto yesterday. It's hard to imagine that these senseless things that happen so often these days. I'm glad you're okay and am saddened by the loss of life and injury to others. Hugs, Marilyn

You are not alone in your shock and grief of this act. Others mourn with you. Raw emotions poured out in writer's ink. I like both sides of you, but maybe the "don't know" side even better. Maybe it is after some expectancy and vulnerability has been chipped away that our best shows.

Maybe you are right, Jean, or maybe it is simply a matter of no longer caring how much of ourselves we expose. (FanStory, for example, for me, doesn't have a great track record.)
There seems to be a growing number of self-centered fools all over who believe humility equals doormat. Makes me wonder about Ghandi, and the life he lived.
In any event, the Irish in me could never let me be a Ghandi, no matter how hard I might try. I quite like who my mother raised, no matter how jaded my perspective (usually controlled), and there are more Torontonians like me than there are the other kind. We might have a lot of patience, but when it's reached its limit, you don't want to be in the vicinity.
Thanks very much.
