I'm 66. When I was a kid most adults had jobs capable of buying a house. Mush of the money in this country was more equitably distributed. Now a great deal of the money is controlled bu the few. How many can buy a house and support a family without having to work over forty hours. As just said, the wisdom of making the rich a lot richer escapes me. But the plight of the working class is a concern - I am lucky nobody would feel sorry for me - keep up the good work!!

Hi, Frank. Working 90 hours paid the same as 40 hours. That is why the corporation abused us. Laid off people and then the ones left had to do two jobs. Company saves on on salary. Not one penny for the other 50

A very well-written poem about the race to work each day for a salary at the end of the month. When we have a family to provide for we have not much of a choice.

Damn I went through this exact same thing but but the hatchet day was Thursday I think that when we have to work we should always have something lined up or work two jobs and if the one Cuts we will have the other job to fall back on. But we should always have some other form of somethong to accumulate income, to back us up. Is very stressful the wonder if you're next on the cut-off list. Thanks for sharing Pam food for thought

I think you are younger than I am. It is very stressful knowing your days are numbered especially when you have many health issues. Before Obamacare. But, it came just in time. I only had six months of COBRA left
I had to wait a year for Medicare. That was my ace in the hole. I am lucky. My meds do not cost much. My husband?s costs more than his social security.

Your poem brought back memories. I remember those times and it was so awful for those who were let go for whatever reason. I was so glad to leave when I did after cancer took three people close to me and I knew there was more to life. Great job with the poem with lots or internal rhymes and capturing those emotions well.

That seems to be the way of work in the USA. The middle class, the secure, well-paying jobs, have become agonizingly competitive, and the dollar buys less and less. The land is not a nation of happy workers it once was. Excellent poem.

The corteosteroids worked. I'm getting around like a 73-year old.

Lol. I get four shots in my back every few months. I had one in my elbow and another in rotator cuff. My elbow swelled to twice normal size. It is called cortisone flush. Happens with my back too. Lots of pain. But last time it did not happen

Hi, No problem. Yes sometimes people get stuck in jobs because there are no similar jobs available at the time.
