Here's one I missed, when Mildred had her heart attack. Scary, perhaps, but at her age it's not uncommon. She needs to take it easy and rest her heart. It will serve her well at a slower pace. That's where I am now... slowed down. :)

Thank you so much, Phyllis, for going back to read this part. I'm glad you are taking care as well. I was told the other day that we think nothing of taking our cars in for a service each year, but never think of our human machine, we just let it carry on full steam ahead until it breaks down. So true! Thanks, my friend. :) Sandra xx

Hello Sandramitchell,
It's a nice piece of General Fiction beautifully depicting its theme.
Lucid and matching the theme phraseology.
Smooth, spontaneous and captivating flow throughout from the beginning to the end.
Interesting & Worth waiting for the next part!

Oh my , we would have a hard go of it without Mildred. she reminds me of my sister's partner, always taking care of everyone. A surprise happening in a story full of surprises.

I think it's a doddle of a life! lol, she really does have it easy. So, what's wrong with Mildred?? You didn't answer my question!!! LOL. We'll have to see what James comes up with. Thank you so much, dear friend, for your usual mad review! LOL. I did enjoy it. Love you lots, my friend. Sandra xxxxxx

Ian is out of intensive care, thank goodness, I can breathe again. His kidneys have been irreparably damaged over the years from all the treatments he's been having. The kidneys couldn't cope, so it looks like he will have to keep going on the dialysis now. He had a minor heart attack, again, this was due to the kidneys failing and poisoning his body. His breathing is difficult and needs to have a portable nebuliser to give his lungs a boost. The dialysis took the fluid off his lungs thankfully. He's weak, but still fighting. I hate it all. He's my baby brother, only 55. Thank you for always caring, my friend, and for all your prayers, I believe it has helped to get him out of intensive care. Biggest hugs, my friend. xxxx

Great chapter starring Mildred! Nice to have the light shine on her, though not under such pleasant circumstances.

Two small corrections:

"Get undressed and come straight to bed," I whispered as I lifted the duvet out (of) the way and tapped his pillow.

is when she fell off the stool after Mrs Humphries died. Which didn't so much as put much of a dent in her head." (omit one of the 'much's)

-A good chapter that picks
up from the previous one, Sandra.
-I can't imagine how Mildred
must have felt when she dropped to the floor.
-It certainly scared Ver., but
fortunately, James was able
to know the right things to do.
-You show Ver.'s concern very
well throughout the story, esp.
when she didn't know what to say
to the children.
-We see a bit of Mildred's old self
when she is conscious and already
giving James grief and wants to go home!
-Hopefully, she will be doing that very soon.

Thank you so very much, Pam, for another amazing review and for all the lovely stars! You know how stubborn Mildred can be. lol. We'll see what happens. I'm so glad you liked the way this came over, I used a personal experience, as far as the emotions go, to portray Veronica's feelings. Thank you, my friend. Big hugs, Sandra xxxxx

You are very welcome and deserving of the stars and review, Sandra. Mildred definitely has a mind of her own; I can't blame her for wanting to be home, though! I think she will get a lot of TLC from her family. Thanks for sharing about
    Ver.'s feelings.

Hello Sandra,
Now, of course, the author knows if something happens to Mildred
the readers will picket outside her door and demand a rewrite.
That being said, I know people who have had mild heart attacks
and recovered quite well, so this I think, will be Mildred's situation.
Never a peaceful moment for poor Veronica, is there.
This episode in the present is very well done.
The tension comes through smoothly in your writing.
I assume "The Powers" who brought Veronica back knew about Mildred, too.
They could have brought her back a little sooner. lol
I think this will prove to be James' time to shine.
Well done, once again!
Robert

I enjoyed reviewing your post and after solving the crisis on behalf of Francis, another twist in the plot pivoting on Mildred's heart attack / I think I should wait for the succeeding post to find out what's next. Keep writing.

You developed a good chapter in this ongoing story. The dialogue was good and logical. I like how you developed the tension, drama and ultimate resolution (of a sort). Well done on this.
