Great imagery and metaphors regarding the black & white sense of rigidity which didn't make sense. The Church said do it..it was done, like watering a dead stick. And the metaphor reaching beyond that as your sister did for you. You alliteration, especially with the s's, captures the sad hissing painful uncomfortable silence. The reader will be drawn to grieve your loss, their loss & I mine. The last stanza is very powerful with even more intense imagery. Well written

I am at this very moment at a loss as I realized with a start how long it has been since my brothers and I have actually come together as we did when we were young....spur of the moment, without constraint of age or propriety....well into adult hood we could go hiking, looking for Native American Artifacts and laugh and cry our way throughout, just conversing on personal and world affairs. Life's gotten in the way....and family obligations. I vow, now that I've read your poem to CALL THEM!
