Your haiku reminds me of watching a machine that grabs a tree trunk, saws it up and cuts it into logs within seconds. It is such an efficient machine at the destruction that it terrifies me.
I wish we would learn from the past, but it seems greed and selfishness will always win over good sense.
Good luck with the contest.

Hi :)
Your entry meets the criteria for the writing prompt.

Excellent presentation and a strong take on the subject matter. I enjoyed the informative author notes too.

This tree-hugger five-seven-five, Forest? We'll Get to It, has the right format and reminds us that we are running the wrong direction with forests and replanting what is lost. Money and greed we'll land us in the new Sahara.

I love when poetry can make a reader stop and think and this poem has done just that. Thank you for bringing attention to the deforestation issue. This is a good 5-7-5 filled with a good lesson.

Such a poignant write and our trees are precious and saving them will save the environment. But we always have an excuse to cut them down, wise and resonating words, I wish you luck with the contest, love Dolly x

Great 5-7-5 poem! The message is well stated in this little gem. I'd have given it six-stars but I'm out of them. This is so true and the image goes great with the poem. I like your added information about deforestation too. Thanks for sharing and best of luck in the contest!

OOOOO! A poem on desertification. --It's nice to see that someone is making the cry of pain. How ironic is "terraforming"!! With all its hi-tech and sci-fi overtones, it still literally means making it resemble the earth.
Great picture too.

This is a good entry for the contest. I can't afford any of these contests. Yours is the first entry I have seen for this particular contest. The Sahara desert used to host great civilizations in fertile valleys along the Nike. Look at it now. Good luck in the contest. Thank you for sharing

I think this is a good entry for the Tree-Hugger 5-7-5 writing prompt.
Your short verse predicts a scary possibility.
Well done and good luck to you with this one in the competition.
Sharon
