Hi, Craig...

Wanted to let you know I read through this poem and enjoyed it. The theme of marriage and tongue and cheek murder works well in the limerick form, and as I'm hiding in my car to escape my grumpy spouse, lest one of us become a crack-halter, it's good advice. It's too chillie outside to enjoy the sunshine and with the little one extra whiny from being sick, and having to cancel her birthday party gathering... still a bad idea to do in the spouse. Or him do in me.

the only area where I wondered was ... if you move the just to the line above the one it's in. If you just do her in...

and then either keep the win... modified ... or maybe sin? ...

    Hi Turtle,

I did have "just" , or maybe it was another word, in the line above, but the syllable counts were off.

Grumpy little ones is not fun, and it's fun when the poor things are sick either. Still, that doesn't sound like the most worrying thing to me. I don't like the sound of hiding in the car, at all. Could you maybe drive it to a friend's or relatives?

    Thanks again :)

Oh, not that kind of hiding. More cabin fever and me needing a moment of quiet before the figurative killing began, before we both ended up super grouchy. I had to pause to remember why I didn't drive anywhere, and remembered... I was waiting for my keys, my brother had them, had driven away with them. When he eventually returned, I drove to go work out with my cousin.

That's quite a word you know. It needs like 30 words to tell you what it means. Might be one day liable to be hung like a gallows bird? My word that's an entirely new poem in itself.

Likely is a good idea not to murder your spouse though, because then you'd have to cover it up with a novel and you'd probably lose the royalties and stuff.

Great good Limerick, Craig. I almost missed this one for some reason.

Oh Craig,

You make me laugh and wonder and worry all at the same time today. Interesting words that make me wonder who sat down to think up words like these and what made it necessary? Obviously somebody back in the day put the wheels in motion out of necessity. That could be a story of its own. Well done, my friend.

    Well, my little book lists a few synonyms for crack-halters. There's crack-hemps, stretch-halters, wag-halters, halter-sacks, slip-strings, hang-strings, hempstrings, hang-ups, gallows-clappers, gallows-climbers, and gallows-birds. lol

You worry about me, Joy? You haven't met the other half! (She's wonderful, but she's the one with the serial-killer obsession lol)

    Cheers, Craig

A very well-written poem. When a couple marry there come moments we feel we can murder the other half when they start irritating one another with small nasty habits

Very true, Sandra. Still, doing away with one's spouse is frowned upon, and illegal in most countries, so what are we to do? Many thanks, Craig

I enjoyed your limerick on being a crack-halter. Marriage does take a lot of patience and rock-of-Gibratoring effort. I think some couples forget why they got married in the first place. First comes the fun and then comes the work. Marilyn

Very true. Sometimes, too much work. Still, doing them in isn't the recommended course of action, I'm told. Many thanks, Marilyn.

If lovers remembered what got them together in the first place, their relationship wouldn't be so much work.

This is a very cute and almost comical poem, if it were not true for some! You used very good wording and your words were great for the imagery. I always love seeing pictures, but with your words I can see in my minds eye as I read. so no picture is necessary! Blessings, Teri

This speaks a warning advice to a spouse not to kill his wife and if he does, he would be liable one day to be hanged; well said, well done. Keep Writing Inspire Changing -- DR ALCREATOR

I love this C.D. quite amusing. I also love ancient or archaic words. I do
a little thing I call "Dictionary Harvest" when I'm blocked. I scour the "great book"
for weird or unheard words and collect them. works......meeshu

An interesting set of words but I think I will try to pretend I didn't hear them.
Loved your author's notes about the massive lapse of judgement.

All the best,
Jan

Well, it's a historical fact that a number of men, and women, do their spouses in. Many more probably wish they had! If we can't laugh at the thought of burying our significant other in the back yard, what can we laugh at? Thanks, Jan

Hmmm. Good point? I mean a wedding/funeral would be ever so much more economical...and everyone is already assembled....and vows could morph to eulogy with barely a breath in between (pun intended )-- ah...but so many witnesses to testify at trial! No....
Perhaps a month or two between I Do and Death Do Us Part...
