A short poem with alliteration of the letter P and we learned a new word, "periscian." Charming image of the penguin. My favorite though is "poppinesque." Marilyn

What a cute little penguin. It seems he's swiped the nanny's brelly though, so let's hope they don't put him in the clink.

Interesting there is a word specific to inhabitants of the polar regions. I wonder what the word is for inhabitants of the moderate regions.

Anyway excellent write and perfect for the contest. So best of luck to you .

Gloria

Thanks for the the lovely comments, Gloria. As for a word for the inhabitants of the moderate regions - some might suggest "agnostics" - although, personally, I've never been comfortable straddling a fence :) Have a great weekend! Craig

Whoa ... that is a mouthful! Great job on this short poem contest entry, Craig; and a perfect way to showcase today's word "periscian". Perfect pairing of picture and poem. Both bring a smile to your reader. Good luck in the contest, Craig. ~~ Connie

This is a cute one, Craig :) I'm giving you my two cents worth today too. I love the picture and it makes me think of the coldest day in Calgary when we had breakfast with the penguins at the Calgary zoo, and got to see them go for a walk outside.I loved that experience. I love Mary Poppins so you made my day with this fun poem.

Joy xx

I love this alliterative piece. It probably is my second favorite of your Curiosity posts. In my mind, you will probably never top your "Ode to Omar Khayyam" masterpiece. This poppinesque one comes close though. Still enjoying your work.

Thanks for the lovely comments, Debbie - glad to see you're persevering! You've set me a challenge now - I'll try and beat the Omar one some time in the next 270 days or so :) Cheers, Craig

I learn a lot of words here and nowhere more than your poetry. The alliteration is great and really works well for this type of poem. I noticed no errors, just an appropriate picture, and word choices, and they are a pretty cute little creature. I like them. And your poem, thanks, Ana.
