This is obviously about more than the roof. It almost read like a letter. I like the style. I hoped he would get the "roof" fixed. My life is full of holes, so I know how he feels.

Well, I have to give this a six, as so many thoughts went through my mind while reading it. It reminds me of a marriage falling apart, or old neighbors with a feud they can't resolve. Or is it the reality of rain we need. "Hold my ladder steady" - great line

Hello!
While I imagine your well-crafted poem could be about a relationship between a couple, to me it resonates the state of our world today. Such tumultuous times, and everyone has complaints, but few offer solid/workable solutions. I loved the references of roof, hammer, and ladder = solid poetic and visual imagery.
Thank you for sharing!

A very well-written heartfelt poem. While a couple is together they sometimes fight about the simplest things, the one is willing to fix the problem while the other just go on about the problems.

Hey Clockwise... this is frenetic and it reads as if you are standing there nervous, desperate and worn out. I love the repetition of the Roof and Ladder it works. thanks for the read. yours, diana

Hello, clockwise, :)

Good poem. I want to share my favorite stanza:

And one day after I'm dead,
should drought bring thirst and pain,
you might then hear all I've said,
and not mind so much the rain.

Have a great weekend.

This poem is very well-written! Each word paints a clear image in my mind, and the entire piece conveys a true message. I like the metaphors you used, which accurately says that "some things you can't change, but it may get better in the future."
Great work :)

A lovely and interesting verse. Well said, well rhymed, nice rhythm.
I like the way your story weaves between rain coming through the roof and the storms in your lives.
Well done, and thank you for sharing this with us.[

An outstanding poem, full of wisdom, reflecting upon the ups and downs of a relationship; the verse has a wonderful beat to it when read aloud; the last stanza is a killer, quite poignant; thanks for sharing.

Wow, a six! Thanks so much. I always seem to struggle when closing a poem, I am glad you think I nailed it this time.

I have heard something similar to this, yet, I like your rhetoric, as well all the metaphors used...the main...the hammer and roof.
If only we could think this way more often as well show reasoning and resilience and patience, our relationships would last longer and become stronger.
Bravo.
I am giving you a six for those reasons, as well, nicely presented.
