I found this to be a fascinating short story that explained your travels that seem to be so exciting. You have such colorful parents especially your father. I felt as if I was traveling with you because your story telling is just great. Your story is filled with both emotions and imagery. Hoping you will be able to continue your travels.

This story is well-written and well-told. You are one of the blessed person who actually fulfilled most (if not all) of the items on your bucket list. I really admired that.
Some people do not fulfill not even fifty percent of the items on their bucket list or do not make a bucket list at all.
I strive to fulfill my goals, and once I do, I create new goals (usually bigger goals).
Good luck in the contest. I suppose winning this contest is on your bucket list. lol.

You may want to take a look at the requiements for this competition again. I believe there is a minimum word count of 700 words but this only comes in just shy of 400.
the former Joegoslavia. - should that be Yugoslavia?
my grand mother let us cook - grandmother could be a single word here.
we tried not stink the car up with pee - tried not to.
His reason was: 'I like to get to the hotel soon as possible?!'- no need for the question mark here.
We id it ourselves - hid?
