From your Irish blessing to the server e Mr way you shared the meaning of Maundy Thursday I was fascinated . We think we understand, but you have given me a greater appreciation of each ritual.

Hi Yvonne,

This is an interesting mixture of religion, myth and pagan celebrations.
Surely your message of love and loving your "neighbor" as you love yourself...
(which none of do so well) ((for various reasons...including...not loving ourselves...not knowing what true love is and not giving a darn about others)) lol
is a strong and important message and good reminder for us all at this time of year.

I was so blown away when I read that the "Church" declared when Easter would be celebrated and that the true time of Christ's resurrection is the first full moon in April. There are a lot of pagan influences with Easter.

You did a great job on this, but as you probably know there are different thoughts of view on exactly when/what day Christ was crucified. Here is an interesting link:
https://www.ucg.org/the-good-news/jesus-wasnt-crucified-on-friday-or-resurrected-on-sunday-how-long-was-jesus-in-the

I like how you speak of the humble act of washing feet and how it is still practiced in churches today. I have one suggestion for this sentence:

" Some churches practice this, also."
suggestion:

(Some churches still practice this holy ritual today)

I also have a suggestion for this line...it's a 'tense' thing:

"Tonight, many altars will be stripped of their beautiful cloths, and everything *is draped in purple for Good Friday, the day Christ was crucified."

suggestion:

Tonight, many altars will be stripped of their beautiful cloths, and everything will be draped in purple for Good Friday, the day Christ was crucified."

You did a great job on this...It all seems like a religious mess to me...not your writing but the messed up religious puzzle of it all. Your Love theme shines through and that's what counts.

Linda

It doesn't matter exactly what day Christ was crucified. What matters is that we commemorate it.

Many religious holidays match the pagan ones because at one time, Christian services weren't allowed and so early Christians celebrated on pagan holidays to hide the fact.

I don't see any mess to it. Remembering is what matters. We could pick any day if we really wanted to, but why, when there are already designated days for it?

Every Sunday is a little Easter. We celebrate a risen Christ every day.

    Thank you for reviewing.

Outstanding. You have explained it so well. Yes, the washing of the feet was an act of humility and service. The ceremony of your religion seems similar to mine. Marilyn

Thank you for this marvelous work of yours. I like this spiritual work and the season is ripe for it. I have a question. I am curious as to why your entire writing is all in bold. To me, and it might be just me, but I find it makes it difficult to read. I also enjoyed being enlightened on where the word Easter comes from. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you for explaining "Maundy Thursday," Yvonne. I've read some other explanations about it being a time to give to the poor also. But I like the way you associated with what Jesus said on the last hours with His disciples.
Blessings on your Easter!

Very nicely written, Yvonne. The Golden Rule is so simple in its brilliance and something society seems to have so much difficulty following.

A new beginning for sure. Many thanks for sharing.

This is a very beautiful poem you have penned about this sad time, but necessary time for the Bible to be fulfilled. You used great words and lovely art work. This is a beautiful time of the year, but makes me so sad that Jesus had to die! I am so thankful that He did it for us all! love, Teri

Many thanks for sharing this one. I never knew the origins of this particular day. We just considered it to be the day of the Last Supper.
