Your poem is an inspiration to take up the pen and create. Sometimes we lose faith in ourselves, we run into writer's block, and its good to remind ourselves of the power of creation, of expressing ourselves through art. And the transformative nature of art to remake ourselves, to give us purpose, to give us the ability to share our experiences with the world around us. Nice determined voice in this poem estory

I very much enjoyed this review, estory. You have defined what makes artistic endeavour worthwhile with your comment about "the transformative nature of art to remake ourselves, to give us purpose, to give us the ability to share our experiences with the world around us".

I really do not know how to review the poem. I read the definition of the poetic posting and I seem to be lost in a poetic maze. So I ignored the discussion about the art form and just read the poem as I would any other poem. The photo helped. Did enjoy the read and that's all that needs to be said.

Thanks, Halfree. The explanation of some of these old poetic forms is daunting and often makes the poem sound much more complicated than it really is. I'm glad that you enjoyed the poem for its own sake, which was, after all, the main purpose in writing it. All the best, Tony

Good Morning, Tony!
Well, my inspiration is striking this morning thanks to your poem! I love the intensity of your verse. It's a wake up call to "Get going! Don't let anything get in your way!" The rondeau form is flawless and much appreciated. Thank you for sharing!

Hello, I haven't ever tried to write a Rondeau, but this one reads well, and your author notes explaining the form is helpful. I think like you, you have to run with it when inspiration strikes, whether it be painting, singing, dancing acting, or writing, all of the arts, really.

A nicely published work with that very appropriate picture, and I have no suggestions for improvement. Thanks, Ana.

How darling is this! I love that you involve your grand daughter as your inspiration about inspiration! If she has any of your literary talent, she will be inspired often. This art picture is great. It's beautiful to see the encouragement given to her artistic side.
Thanks for sharing,
Hug Trisha

Very many thanks for stopping by to review, Trisha, and for awarding this six stars. Much appreciated. Her father is a dab hand with a paintbrush and so gives her plenty of encouragement. Best wishes, Tony

What a cute little girl, is it someone you know? Its wonderful when inspiration hits...it's how I ended up on FanStory...with inspiration and imagination we can do anything.

Very many thanks for stopping by to review, Boogienights. Much appreciated. Yes, she's my granddaughter and her antics quite often inspire me to take up a pen! Best wishes, Tony

Something different from you. You seem very versatile. I find that when inspiration strikes, it must be obeyed. I am also an oil painter. I absolutely must paint or write no matter what I am doing when inspiration strikes. This is my favorite passage. "Embrace your muse with love if you'd be wed;
make her an offering she can't refuse.". I think it is actually making me the offer that I can't refuse not the other way around. Thank you for sharing

Thanks, Pam. I do write the occasional poem based on photographs of my granddaughter. A grandfather's weakness, I'm afraid!
One day I'll probably put them all together, to her eternal embarrassment. Yes, the offer comes from the muse, but what is made of it, 'the offering', comes from the artist. That was my intention anyway!

A delightful rondeau, Tony. I am sure I've mentioned it before, but you definitely have an unfair advantage when it comes to the artwork! I love the look of studious concentration. I'm wondering if anyone is going to ask what a Zed is. Great job with this. A fine, inspirational reminder to us all to carpe diem. Cheers, Craig

Thanks, Craig. She's a bit of a sweetie, in my biased view! Yes, I had to specify Zed, in case any Americans read it as Zee! I was in the midst of a couple of last minute edits when your review came through. The poem went up before it was quite ready!

That happens to me quite a bit too.
