Thanks for sharing your research, Ine. I do fine with 7 to 8 hours of sleep. Glad that you have found something to help you sleep. Thanks for the warning to be aware about. Will keep checking on my husband.

Thanks for sharing this invaluable information dear Ine, I don't have trouble sleeping, bu I don't usially have more than 6 hours sleep a night. But I'm a morning person, and do most of my reviewing, from about 5 in the morning, you're quite active. Well done, very useful article Ine, blessings, Roy

It's interesting facts....it's nice of you to share...a lot of it is straight from Wikipedia and so how does one know who to cite for what facts I wonder? Perhaps it will nudge someone into getting checked and thus save a life...and five stars is certainly worth that possibility!

My husband has sleep apnea. He has his machine and uses it regularly. If he doesn't, I wake him because when he doesn't he snores so loudly nobody else in the house is sleeping. I didn't know such a day exists, but I am glad it does. Thank you for sharing. If you make the corrections, I'll upgrade the rating.

Healthy sleep is sleep which restores and energizes a person, (Maybe - Healthy sleep restores and energizes a person,--this is a tighter read)

sleep investigation is worded to identify and treat it. (maybe ordered not worded)

The optimal sleep duration requirement is largely determined by heredity. (you can leave duration out, it's an extra word and isn't needed)

I always need ten, all my life. (I've always needed ten.)

Regardless of the theory, if you are healthy, absence of recall of dreams might suggest that your sleep is continuous, (that isn't needed, it's an extra word)

I mention his symptoms. (I'll mention his symptoms.)

My brother has been tested twice for this with overnight stays in hospital, but they say there is nothing they can do for him. He has other illnesses. I'm sorry your Robert died with this, Ine, we never know what's happening in our bodies, when we do, it's sometimes too late. You wrote a very informative piece here, my friend. Very well done. :) Sandra xxx

This well written piece came as a surprise to me. I didn't know we had a world sleep day. Besides, and most important to me from your piece, are the facts and knowledge you have now armed me with about the pros and cons of sleep.

I've copy pasted them to check on later.

>>The typical patient with sleep apnea is characterized by complaints.

Complaints during sleep:
-snoring
-reported apneas
-choking
-nocturia
-sleep is unrefreshing
-night sweating
-bed-wetting, this symptom he had not.

Complaints during wakefulness:
-morning headaches
-dry mouth upon waking up
-excessive sleepiness
-fatigue
-lack of energy
-acid reflux
-irritability and mood changes
-trouble concentrating during the day
-a decline in memory
-erectile dysfunction and/or low sex drive<<

Thanks for sharing.
