I can fully support World Sleep Day. I love it! I use to have nightmares all the time from my past. After I met my husband the dreams have lessened a lot and I sleep a lot better. I put all that on him because when I'm with him I feel safe and I think that helps me so sleep. It's crazy how one person can make such a huge difference. I hope you catch some Zzzzz's soon.

You've written an excellent informational essay, Ine. I used to pull two or three all-nighters in a row, but now I need 5 hours to function without gallons of coffee. My father never needed more than 4, so the need is, indeed, hereditary. Stress is a major cause of sleep disorders in the US. One simply can't calm the thoughts enough to relax into sleep. Of course, lack of sleep causes or contributes to all sorts of health problems. You've done a great job of pointing those out. Well done. :) Nancy

This is a great story Ine and a warning to all of us. I have no problems with sleeping, but many people have. It was on TV not long ago and it's not so innocent as it seems.... 30% of the people of 70 years and older have those problems. We have to be allert, because it causes a lot of healthproblems.
Well done!! Fia

Wow Ine...how are we to know. I have insomnia too but there's nothing I can do about it as the neighbors won't leave us alone long enough for me to sleep. My husband sleeps thru anything, but I can't. I sure wish Robert could have gotten help when this started...AND I hope you get plenty of sleep and joy with your friends in waking hours. That's what keeps us going. x.

Hello, Robina, :)
Your writing is really improving, here. Very good report of sleep apnea. I have a friend on a C-pap machine. He does snore. I'm wondering about this in people with chronic diseases.
I found a few typos and have suggestions:
Health and disease are opposites, and therefore, when disease (disorder) of sleep does exist, sleep investigation is worded (needed) to identify and treat it. As most of us know (comma, not : ): The optimal sleep duration requirement is largely determined by heredity. When I think about this (comma not : ): his death can be possibly connected to it. (The : {I looked up the name on Google and can't find it} is usually used when you list things or like I use it to indicate something following it, but not in a sentence---MAKE SURE YOU DO YOUR OWN RESEARCH TO SEE IF I AM CORRECT, OKAY?) :d
Have a good weekend. :)
PS: I never heard of National Sleep Day either, but National Women's Day celebrates all of us women and our contributions to life! :D

This special day is new to me too, but sleep is so important for our health, I am glad there is this focus. I function well with eight hours, but know others need more. Thank you for all your research. My son, who is forty-one, has sleep apnea and uses a CPAP machine, which he does not like but helps him a great deal. May Robert rest in peace- Joan

Well thought and clearly written. Everybody is born entitled to a goodnights' rest. And now, every day can be a holiday to celebrate. Awareness, pffft. Gift me a good pillow. Lolz.
Have a wonderful weekend :)

I picked up the habit of minimal sleep during my college years. It has stayed with me. This is very well written with a smooth flow of words, making for a very good read.
