This is a hauntingly beautiful poem. I have a friend who was recently widowed. They were so in love. They were each other's best friend. I think this must be how she feels without him.
This has a good flow and the rhymes feel natural. Nice work.

The rainbow watches me concede
To what I want and what I need
I need you even more than life
These pills will join you with your wife ...
I often think without my husband I would not want to live either, and my parents who are nearly seventy and in bad health, as I am an only child I fear so much for them as they have been married forty years and never apart. This was such a sad poem but so skilfully written. Love and kindest regards Meia xx

Thank you, Meia for this heartfelt review and high rating. I, also do not think I will want to live without my husband. 39 years for us. Both parents of mine are gone. I have wonderful relationships with my stepchildren and have 8 siblings to lean on. I think I will let myself do that. I hope you and your surviving parent can do that too should the time come

What a sad poem--yet starkly honest. The devastation of losing someone you'd expected to be with forever is aptly described as unbearable.

There are stories of couples who have been together for 30, 40, 50 years and when one of the couple dies, the other dies of a broken heart within the next six months. Their health just fades.

I hope the pills at the end of the poem were a thought and not an action.

Wow - quite powerful, it that you? I suppose it can apply to anything lost too soon. Creates an emotion and amplifies it throughout. Little I review dose that- thank you.

Thank you, Frank for your lovely review and high rating. No, not me, but I painted it. It is called Bridesmaids. There is another bridesmaid on the left that I cropped out so that the image will upload. She used to be the groom?s fiancé, but, now she is st his wedding to another woman. I thought her facial expression matched the poem. Take care

Tragic statements, loss of mate in life, having a wish to join them on the other side. Don't gamble with these odds, could fold unfavourable aspects to you. Nightmares outside ones defined wishes. All in my opinion of this work.

A very well-written poem. It gets better with time. After ten years plus still missing him but it is not overwhelming anymore. There are many good memories that help me cope.

Tremendously sad, I hope that this is not really you. But I can feel for anyone who is missing a true soulmate. There is always something that we can find to live for though, reaching out to help someone else always makes us feel better. Time is short and we will all end up there in heaven soon enough. Good writing.

The survival instinct is strong in homo sapiens, and with good reason, for tomorrow other souls may need your help desperately, and a mission you never
dreamed of may call on you. The rainbow is said to be a sign from God that he is hanging up his war bow for a time. Excellent aabb quatrains.

Beautiful artwork, a delight for the eyes.

You have crafted great meter and rhyme, in such a delicate story, which you tell with amazing, beautiful words. I don't think I've read a more skilfully told love story in poetry around this site for some time, although I'll admit I only read precious few poems.

I wish I still had a six to give.

Brilliant, poet!

Good luck with the contest.
