Oh so true Connie. Though personally I don't need to move my feet or swing-n-sway in a dance, there are certain songs or groups they can heighten my mood very easily.

Nicely done ! Who's in the photo? John

Thank you, John, for your review. Sorry I'm so late in replying--I guess I'm just a busy lady these days.
You asked who is in the picture. I borrowed this from Google Images, so I've no idea who she is, but she
    worked for this poem!
    Thanks again.

It does seem like the right kind of music can change your mood. To some, dancing to the music helps. To others, perhaps just singing to the music does the trick. You did a great job with this well written poem. Well done.

This work has reached the exceptional level

First, I want to say what a cute picture! Just looking at it makes me smile. Then I read your perfectly rhymed poem with its happy rhythm and had to smile some more. I guess we all have down days now and then, but your advice is so good, I'm hoping I will give it a try the next grey day. Thanks for writing this, my cheerful friend. I love it. I miss you my lovely friend. Hugs, Adonna

What a wonderful review, Adonna, and thank you for that special six-star rating.
Dancing really does work to lift my spirits even though I'm not a great dancer, but
who cares as long as no one is watching!
    Thanks again, my friend.
    Hugs,

It is so much fun to dance. I was an excellent dancer. I learned as a freshman in High School and danced until my
knees gave out some years ago. I lost my voice for singing before the knees went. I have not really enjoyed music that much since Connie. I seem to love hymns by choirs now. LOL
I suppose that's something that comes with age. This would be a good remedy to solve a bad day.I say go for it while you can.So turn on tunes and start to move. Put on that smile, get in the groove! Hugs. Nancy

Thank you, Nancy, for your delightful review. I'm sorry you can't dance anymore, but at least you have the memory of once being a good dancer. I'm not a good dancer, never have been, but I try anyway!
    Hugs to my dear friend.

Haha I loved this Connie. I am a big music lover and enjoy listening to my ipod Nano and dancing like there's no one around. Problem is, there IS someone around haha

Oh, I also sing at the top of my lungs LOL
Could you have guessed that? No, seriously, could you?!
haha

Anyway enough about me and back to your poetic jive. Whilst I loved it's groove and rhythm all the way down my page there were two lines that bugged me but only a little.

This one:

and wash those silly blues away.

I wondered why the "wash"...is that because of the cliche' line I wonder. Thing is you might be able to still create the shout out to that line but use your own more descriptive, bearing in mind it is a dance we are talking about.

What about:

"and step those silly blues away"

or if you are hell bend on a chore maybe

"and sweep those silly blues away"

slightly better alliteration and it's your line.

Your call. It's just what I'm getting and you know me. Full of opinions haha

My only other one that I felt I could help with was this line:

But if, perhaps, you sit chair bound

It felt a little heavy on the end.
What about:

"But if it's to the chair, you're bound"

Same diff? But maybe a teency bit smoother? Just run it by your ear.

Take them with a grain of salt or a stiff gin. You know I love you. Still a big fat five but not quite the sixer for me this time. Sorry darling!

All my love
Phillippa

If we could give ratings for reviews, my dear, you would get a sixer for this review, for sure.

It's always a delight to hear from you, and it's even more precious when you give me such good suggestions, which, by the way, I'm going to take advantage of by making a few revisions.

I can just see you singing and dancing around the place. When dancing, I like to turn the music up nice and loud when no one's around. Bill is not a dancer at all, so I grab little Jack when he's here and we dance. I must say, though, that I'm not the world's best dancer, but who cares, right?

Thanks again, Sweetie. Now I must go in and make those changes before I forget.
    Lots of love,
    Connie

Super idea for raising the endorphins which directly relate to our well being. Physical movement like dancing, walking, jogging give us a shot of happiness. Great job with this poem. Marilyn

Your fun verse is well rhymed and well told.
Dancing will chase the blues away for sure. I like the idea and the way that you have put it across.
Well done and thank you for sharing this happy tune with us.

Great suggestion in a well written poem, Connie. I do chair dancing all the time...with my feet. It's good exercise. I can't do much standing, but sitting, I outshine Ginger Rogers. :)

Thank you, Phyllis, for a delightful review. Good for you that you do chair dancing, and I'll bet you do outshine Ginger Rogers! Have I told ever you, by the way, that I like your profile picture? Being the dog lover that I am, I like the dog and your happy, smiling face. Hope your day is going well.

Hello, what a great poem and who doesn't love dancing. I dance and listen to music nearly every day. It is a great way to keep fit. Your poem has a great rhythm and the picture suits it perfectly. I noticed nothing jarring and only wished I had a six stars left for this one. Maybe next time, Ana.
