Wow, another moving chapter, Alie! I can't imagine how hard it was for these three students after the childhood experiences they had with needles. And we think as patients we have it hard. How much harder for the one doing the blood draw! I wondered if you would start with oranges instead of people first. Great information here!!

I had a work colleague once who had been a phlebotamist. Her nickname was of course Vlad or Dracula as you might have guessed. There is a fictional drama on our television about a doctor who had been a brilliant surgeon until he started being sick at the sight of blood so he becomes a GP and buries himself in a small Cornish fishing village.

Let us hope that these students overcome their fears under your expert tutelage. Another excellent episode.

Thank you again for a wonderful review, I really enjoy the tidbits you share. Wow, that was interesting about the doctor. Now of course every phlebotomist is called something like Vlad, Dracula and my favorite was the vampire lady. When I was working hospice we were commonly called the death lady and my favorite was the angels of death.

I want you to promise that you will look the other way and take slow breathes. You can do this." - slow breath{e}s

I enjoyed reading this chapter and the stories as to why those people were afraid of needles. Trauma can really do something to the mind.

What interesting stories from the students. Fear of blood and needles came from traumatic events with sick and dying family members. I imagine that would be hard to overcome. I hope they all succeeded. :)
