At least Aldo's cremated remains were in a place where people (and apparently the dogs too) cared about what happened to them.
It would be sad to think of someone using Aldo's urn being used as an ashtray.
Hey, don't laugh, I've seen it happen.
My ex-wife's cousins hated their mother so much for her constant meddling in their drug affairs by turning them into the cops that when she was cremated the two of them acquired her ashes then used her remains and urn for an ashtray.
How's THAT for gratitude?
Needless to say, her daughter is in jail and her son is awaiting trial for 11 counts of possession with intent to sell.
Go figure.
Hey, I'm a firm believer in what comes around goes around.
Good Bernie and Howie story, Patty.

    Hi, Dean!!

    Good to see you. I'm glad you enjoyed this latest Bernie and Howie story. It has been a difficult couple of weeks, and I'm just starting to really come out of the funk.

    Your poems are continuing to grow and amaze me -- thank you for sharing, and I sincerely hope you will continue to share your work,

Ah, so you were grieving for Aldo. And you had custody of his ashes. I wonder if dogs know about death. Animals in the wild do, but those that live with us? One thing is sure... dogs can cheer us up! :)

I lovvvve the handsome picture of Bernie.

    Hi, Phyllis;
    Yes, I have custody of Aldo's ashes and other things, too. He never married or had any children, so I was the primary beneficiary in his will,

I like the way you make the two dogs the leading characters without any overkill. This is very well written with a smooth flow of words, making for a very interesting read.
