Dear patty, Good story about Bernie and about Bernie's trying to get Howie's attention. The Mistress brightened up when she saw Bernie's and Howie's curiosity about the container. And I'm glad Bernie was no longer sad either. Dove

Hi, Dove;
Thank you so much for reading this latest Bernie and Howie offering. I don't think I would have survived the last few weeks without the dogs and my writing,

A lovely write about the loyalty and sensitivity of pets Patty. I can easily visualise the scene as my boys would be like this too.
It is hard to sad for long when you see the sympathy in their eyes.
hugs

Interesting perspective here, the death of your friend, and its impact in your life, looked at from a dog's viewpoint. It comes across as very mysterious that way. Human emotions seem to come from nowhere and disappear into nothing. What they add up to in life doesn't seem to amount to much either. As such, it is interesting social commentary. This kind of perspective has possibilities in all kinds of stories, I think estory

A very well-written story. It is amazing how quickly our pets can sense there is something wrong with our emotions and how they adapt to our feelings and be quieter than usual nearly sympathetic.

I loved the story, there's lots of "urn" occurrences recently, I wrote one a couple of days ago, and you've got one with Aldo's remains in it. Your poor doggies, thinking they had upset you, but they hadn't, I don't know why, but I'm upset now. Well done Patty, love your stories surround your sweet pets, well done, blessings, Roy

Hi, Roy;
Thank you so much for reading this latest Bernie and Howie offering. I don't think I would have survived the last few weeks without the dogs and my writing. The photo of the urn you used was lovely - Aldo's real urn is earthy shades. His brother, Sergio, chose it because it is supposedly made with dirt from the Vatican City.

Aha I like that

This is a lovely story and the picture is also lovely. I have enjoyed reading it very much.
I'm sorry to hear about your friend Aldo and I'm also sorry to hear you've been sad.
It seems, however, that you are better now. At least, the ending of your story is hopeful.
Thanks for sharing.

Oh my, you got to keep the ashes? I'm surprised he didn't have an expensive place in a cemetery complete with marble bench and angel watching over his final resting place. I see you have another post in my messages so I better read and catch up.

Hi, Joy;
I did get to keep Aldo's ashes. Since he never married or had children, he named me as the main beneficiary in his will. Sergio is the only surviving sibling of their family, and I was Aldo's closest friend, as he was mine - next to my hubby,

The entire scene is told so very well through the eyes of Bernie. Animals know when there's something new or changed. They don't miss a thing. And they always know when there's something wrong with us.
Wonderful story. Well written and grabbed my attention right away. Kiss the boys for me. I look at their photo often. I think I told you one of my cats, Opal, has an obsession with this picture. I had to move it so she couldn't get it. She would pat it and rub her cheeks on it, marking it as hers. LOL

Hi, Yvonne;
Thank you so much for the lovely review.
I wonder if I should send Opal her own picture. Lord only knows where she would keep it,

Lovely photo of your dog that complements your short story very well. The dogs notice there is something wrong with their boss, more than just a headache, I thought. She grieves about Aldo. Then she goes back to normal and takes the pair for a walk. No changes needed.

Yes, our pets are very susceptible to our moods.
I like the way you seem to be aware of their
feelings and reactions to yours.
Well done Patty. Hugs. Nancy
