Hey, Craig...

I read through this poem and enjoyed it. The flow and individual lines all contributed to the sense of a diary. I didn't see anything to suggest. This poem triggered some thoughts from me as I read, though. Not much useful to you, but I figured to share where my brain went on reading this. (Really nice job, as I never paused)

I was always paranoid about keeping a journal... but kept one just the same... Unfortunately... when I was young, I read or heard a story about a kid who killed themself after someone found and passed around their diary, and promptly burned mine. It wasn't until many years later that I returned to journal writing.

I was out of high school by then. I recall reading some of it to my male at one point, and he called me a crazy person. Mind you... I was writing to myself and from myself in odd ways. My imaginary friends would write back to me in my journal.

I don't remember what I was worried about for the journal I burned, though. It's not like I led an exciting childhood of dark secrets. Probably just wrote random stuff, like: Today I went to school. My poo was green.

Things you worry about as a kid.

Haha. I don't think that's anything to worry about, Turtle. I'm sure green poo is just a sign you're eating a healthy amount of leafy veg :) I think maybe the reason I never kept a diary was that I had a dog who was privy to all my deepest, darkest secrets. Cheers, Craig

So glad you gave us the definition, because I sure would not have known what a hemerology was! Your poem covered all of the possibilities of a diary, twists and turns of loves and life, the good and the bad, laying thoughts and feelings bare where no one else can see.
Your writing has been quite prolific lately. I have not been on Fanstory in many months, and as I came back on, 9 of my 10 waiting messages are from your posts. (and I am sure I will enjoy working my way through them!)

Haha, sorry about that! I know how it is - I took over a year off myself. I am normally very sporadic, but this year I took on a (self-imposed) project which involves writing a poem a day, and that's apart from the occasional extra one when my muse so demands. But, to be honest, I'm finding it quite hard work, and it's not conducive to producing the best work. So you may get a reprieve in the near future. Either way, I very much appreciate your support in reviewing, and look forward to seeing your work again! Cheers, Craig :)

I think this is a good Acostic for the word; Hemerology.
Well written and well said.
I've never kept a diary either, I wonder if it's too late to start.
Thank you for sharing this verse with us.
Sharon

Thanks very much, Sharon, for the kind words. Too late for me, I'm afraid. I'm too lazy and disorganised these days :) Cheers, Craig

Thank you for sharing a new vocabulary word in this acrostic. I enjoyed your rhymed, rhythmic couplets and clever punchline. I salute your "word of the day" project, and look forward to reading more examples. Cheers- Joan

I have never kept a diary either, and it's probably a VERY good thing. I get into more than enough trouble a it is... (LOL).

This is a charmer, Craig, and the perfect form for educating me, yet again - another new word (to me, anyway).

Thanks very much, Dawn. I'm far too lazy and disorganised to have managed it. Much appreciation! Craig

Thats a crazy word of the day. It sounds more like something having to do with blood or else hemoroids? I don't know how to spell that word, obviously. I never would have guessed it means diary. I never kept one. Too risky for people to steal it and read it.

Good acrostic :)

A very well-written acrostic poem added value to this form when rhyme is used. Hermology like a personal diary that we have to guard so that no one else knows what we write about unless we want them to know.

Got to record these random thoughts of mine
Yes, they are precious, though I'm only nine

LOL! Great poem with a superb ending! Didn't see that coming. So true, too. That's the age little girls get into diaries. :)

This is ever so cute, Craig. You taught us another new word via this delightful acrostic poem. "Omitting naught for I've no sense of shame" made me smile and your last line with a twist ... "Yes, they are precious, though I'm only nine" made me laugh as I thought it was written by an adult.

A most enjoyable acrostic poem! ~~ Connie

Craig, This is a very well written acrostic poem with the word hemerology. This is a new word for me. I have always kept a diary when I was younger and sometimes now. Great wording and thanks for sharing a new word with us! Blessings, Teri
