Hi Rod, a well written poem on the conditions this poor man went through. The sea can be brutal, but I like the ending, where he refused to break and survived.

This was a well written poem that shows the tireless will of a seaman standing defiantly against the elements. You described all of the events of this struggle superbly. I like this. Thanks for sharing this. Well done.

Excellent Poem! The title of your poem was engaging.
The author's words were powerful, strong and thought
provoking. I found the message in this poem was to
never give up. The artwork was perfect and complimented
both the theme and words of this poem,

Rodg,
I do not have a six, but this is one of the most deserved I have read as of late.
The tale is gripping and the imagery superb. Your vocabulary with similes and metaphors is top notch.. wow...

Great interpretation of the Homer painting.
From the look of those sharks, he had good reason
to tie himself to the rigging.
Excellent descriptive imagery,
the poem is well rhymed and reads smoothly,
even has a happy ending,
not often the case in sea/man duels.
Well done
Good luck in the contest

I am still in awe of poets who can write lines while looking at a painting and cook up a story working purely out of his imagination, as the author did in this excellent poem. I truly enjoyed reading it. Thanks for sharing. Very well done.

A dramatic picture, matched by your dramatic words, and you don't even mention all the sharks!
Your quatrains maintain a very string rhyme and meter throughout and excellent word choice adds to the power of the tale - thrash, lunge, maelstrom. onslaught...
Good luck in the contest.

Excellent rhyme and meter as all of your poems are, RodG.
Besides, who doesn't enjoy a rousing, sea-faring adventure every now and again?
Although I have a dog in this hunt as well, I wish you all the best.

This abcb rhymed poem tells a dramatic story of a man in a small boat who is caught in a storm. He survives and finds himself safe near store. I really enjoyed this, Rod. :) Nancy
