Yelena,

Since you have reviewed me, I was curious about your writing style and was just browsing your portfolio. I write almost exclusively in the 5-7-5 format, so this one I feel comfortable about reviewing. Honestly my poetry wheelhouse does not include writing longer verses and I rarely review the same (even when I am a fan of the poet).

Interesting tale/tail you wrote about. Obviously the Sphinx has a happy place in your life again.

Mark

Thank you so much, Mark, for the good reviews. I do write a short forms occasionally, though most of my writing is rhymed metered poetry.

Mark, since you prefer reviewing short forms, here is the link to another haiku: http://classic.fanstory.com/displaystory.jsp?id=852675

    Yelena,

The link did not work. Please provide me the date posted and title and I will be pleased to review your short one.

Mark, the title of my haiku is
haiku (nightingale's sweet song). Posted April 15, 2017.
The link probably didn't work because I use most the classic version of FanStory, and it sometimes creates problems.

The photograph and your haiku give new meaning to why the cat was considered so sacred to the Egyptians. Along with the sphinx, it seems so "godlike". Well done- Joan

Thank you so much for the great review, Joan. This Sphinx has an interesting history. I had it first, then Linda and her ex-husband had for a couple of years, and when they broke up, I took it back but because I was in New York, I asked a friend in Vegas to keep it for me. I was convinced I would return some day. They ended up keeping it for 7 years. I realized I probably wouldn't come back to Vegas any time time soon, and made arrangements to ship the sphinx to Myrtle Beach. I am not telling you what the shipping cost is going to be (lol). The weight exceeds the UPS maximum weight, has to be done by freight and crated. But I can't wait to get him back. Linda and I named him Osyris. He has this magic presence doesn't he?

I didn't realize your sphinx is so big and heavy, but after seven years it will be worth even the exorbitant cost of getting him back. Yes, Osyris has a magical presence. Enjoy- Joan

Wow--that is one big sphinx and freight bill--but great to have him back home! Cheers- Joan

What a splendid composition, both in the photgraph and in your accompanying haiku. Now I know where the inscrutable smile on the face of the Sphinx really comes from! LOL
