I would be very surprised if you didn't win the love poem contest with this entry, it is lovely. I love rhyming poems and you have done this very well. It's the touching words however, especially the last lines, that make it so special. I will look for the contest. Good luck .

This is the second entry for this contest I've read, but it's my favorite so far. LOL Romance happens to be my favorite genre, but I go for the old fashioned unconditional love. A romance that takes time to build and nurture. Good luck with the contest.

This is a loveable Valentine Love poem which is so glorious of content
and technical artistry, rich in rhymes and musical metricality, deserving of Fanstory recognition. Weeks ago, I asked FS to sponsor a Valentine contest which aimed at Love --without any technical restrictions like acrostics, etc.,-- but the reply was surprisingly evasive and unyielding. I believe your poem would maybe have won such a contest. Valentine Blessings on you and your dear wife., john

This is a lovely tribute and Valentine's Day poem for your dear wife, Elaine.
You capture the love and beauty of married life and also acknowledge the trials of the twists and turns along the way. So sorry I am already out of sixes this week.
This is a beautiful and heartfelt poem.

So true Roy. I never noticed Jim was getting old. He remained the same in my eyes as the day we met. He's
gone now, but when I remember him he is still the young man I loved for a lifetime. He will always be My Valentine. Well done. Lucky woman. Nancy

It's the love that endures bad as well as good over many years that really counts. The kind that grows with the years. Too many settle for the flash in the pan and regret it later.
Lovely valentine for your wife. I know she will treasure this. 8-)

Yes, Roy;
- you notice that it's only a five that's because I haven't any sixes in my coffer even though it is only Tuesday here. It's just the people are just writing some magnificent poems. The newcomers are learning quick.
-As I was reading along, I found this passage one of the strongest values and qualities that you describe the expressed how love is; "Love soars and crowns the head of grace, it dies to self, reveals God's face, it's like a fortress built on rock, not subject to time's cruel clock." I always thought that grace was the biggest forgiveness that one can give, like our Lord giving up his son, as a forgiveness for our sins. So, when you wrote "love sores and crowns like the head of grace..", That was some very strong and prophetical statement.
-I love how you ended your poem is an actual reference and metaphorical imagery of love by explaining your own love for your wife. I thought that was a brilliant ending culminating it all and combining it to reflect all the qualities of love.
-Good luck in the contest, My friend, and take care and have a good one especially with all those that love you so dearly.
