This is a good entry for the Nonet Poetry writing prompt.
It's also a nice verse for your son.
Good luck to you with this one in the competition.

Well, don't you think you're fancy with your double nonet. I'm gonna have to try all that much harder, now. Rats! You've chosen the perfect form for this lovely tribute and good advice to your wonderful son. Best of luck in the contest. :) Nancy

Hi Nancy!
Not too fancy. My son is nearly 30 years old, and I wanted to pen a verse that would be meaningful for him today... so I compared his childhood with his adulthood. Three or four reviewers have offered their opinions that it will be disqualified from the competition as it is a double nonet. But the rules don't say anything to the contrary.
Thank you for appreciating my poem...

Well, I'm rooting for you, Diane. The rules don't say we can't write a double, and the two parts merge well to make an interesting whole, much like the parts of a sonnet. If I were just playing (not for a contest) I might make the single word ending of the first nonet the first word of the second. But either way, you get that great hourglass shape that represents the passage of time in your son's life. :) Nancy

Nonets can be fun and playful to write--you've added a challenge by making this a double-nonet. The topic is warm and the strong relationship between the mother and son makes the poem very inviting to read.

I really enjoyed this poem, and I thought it was a beautiful tribute to your son. However, I looked at the contest requirements, and I fear this will be disqualified for being a double nonet. I hope not; it's very good!
Take care,
Russell

Hello Russell!
Thank you for your thoughtful review. I read the contest requirements as well, and I didn't see anything that said a double nonet could not be penned. The rules do not address Regardless, I wrote this poem for my son, and even if my verse is disqualified, I am at peace. I also wanted to challenge myself to penning a double nonet. My favorite form is tetractys. Both lend themselves to telling a story...given the ability to stretch their forms a bit...
Have a wonderful Sunday!

I was relieved to see this was not a requiem for a lost child.
Instead, your carefully-wrought poetry expresses a mother's loving confidence in her son.

Hello Don!
No, not a requiem for my son. If anything, a tribute to his resilience.
I so enjoyed penning this verse.
Thank you for your thoughtful review!

Hello Mrs. KT. Well now, this is a fantastic Nonet! I love double any form as it shows the talent and ability to create! Great message too. Strong and to the point. Liked the ending of second nonet to the basically same line as the beginning of the first. Nice work. xoxo Kiwi

That poem was so good. Something that I would like to share with my son(s). It would be nice in one to never let go and make sure they knew in every situation how much they were loved, but alas they must be alllowed to be free.

Such a beautiful example of a Nonet- Double Nonet.
I can feel the emotion as your son, a little boy builds snow fort, chases fireflies, and grows into the young man that faces challenges, and conquers obstacles in life.
Perfect syllable count and form for the Nonet.
Your poem made me feel the love and memories of watching my own son grow into a strong man. Bringing about the emotion the signature of a talented poet.
