As always, your poems invite introspection and debate. Belief is a subjective thing, a personal journey of the spirit. In your poem, you champion an open mind, tolerance, and sympathy for the nature of these beliefs. But you also call it 'self deceit'. My own beliefs went through a long evolution. That happens in 57 years. I have had relationships with all kinds of people who believed in all kinds of things. In many ways, the place I am now was shaped by my experiences. I wonder what you will think of my novel when I post it. estory

Good write but taken directly will hurt many. If we take everything you say then there will be nothing to believe in. We are human and there is no way we can or will know the truth. In this case even the birth of Jesus and the othe Wise Souls who came to save or redirect humanity are all mythologies...not very true is it? Take these wise Souls away , nothing would be left to direct humanity. Big it is your be

Good morning, Tom,
Despite making it worse, this is in verse:
Which lines you espouse, it's hard to assess,
but you're sure a good speller, I confess;
Your intention, I'm sure, was tongue-in-cheek,
not to mention rebellious left-wing speak.
(I like that, a dissident Democrat.)
If I have read you wrong, just forget it
I don't want to feel I must regret it. :o)

Well this is certainly a very cleverly worded acrostic poem . I particularly liked, "offend no friend that seeks to share".I admit I had to read it twice to fully digest it.
I wish you good luck in the competition.

I really liked the flow of this piece. It reminds me of something you would hear in a coffeehouse back in the nineties or the beatnik poetry of the fifties. Great job. Good luck with your contest.

three wise monkeys were once written to
"hear no evil, see no evil, speak no evil"
it is time those three wise monkeys were written to say
"test your faith, prove your faith, love your faith"
a very good acrostic
good luck in the contest with this fine entry
blessings
have a smiley day

After the first paragraph I was cheering your positive input. When I finished the second part I was frustrated. Then I looked at the title again. How thought provoking and challenging.

Your excellent Acrostic poem seems to support two opposing viewpoints regarding belief. While the first stanza speaks in a positive way about belief, the second stanza speaks about how over zealousness can quickly and easily lead to fanaticism.
As a religious person, I get it and I just happen to think that you are absolutely correct. Good job.

The thinker of these words has indeed traveled in and out of his revelations more than once. To gather the broad scope and multiple layers presented here in such few words is no easy task. A guide this is for what to do with what is seen in exposed truth and clarity. We are products of make-believe until the veil of our composition is lifted. Beware the answers created by the educated cookie-cutters who shape minds in their own image.
A very worthwhile read for those with mental microscopes.
